I can't remember who did it originally...My sister had it on a Tracey Ullman album in the 80's....Life is a Rock....

There's so many times I've let you down,
So many times I've played around,
I tell you now they don't mean a thing.

Leaving on a jet plane - multiple artists, probably best known by Peter Paul & Mary

Leaving on a Jet Plane. Wrote by John Denver. Robbie Fulks does a great version of this song as well.

Here is one for all you Canadians

The queen of George Street just went walkin’ on by
walkin’ on by with some guy who don’t care
that she stood in line since half past nine
and spent three hours on her hair

Her friend is lookin’ at me with an evil grin
I think a bloody racket might soon begin
I must have said something to the George Street queen
now the boys are joining in.

So I drank all of my money and I slept out in the rain
Every day is different, but the nights are all the same
You never see the sun on the old black rum
and I know I’m gonna do it again.

Well, you ned to hear the song in its entirety to get it and have some idea of how fond Canadians (particularly those from the Atlantic Provinces!!!!) are of dark rum! The chorus is one every respectable Maritimer can sing, shout or scream along with whatever band is playing it :

Well the old black rum's got a hold on me
Like a dog wrapped 'round my leg
The old black rum's got a hold on me
Will I live for another day? HEEEEEEYYYYY
Will I live for another day?

I love Great Big Sea. They come here a couple times a year. Their live show is one of the best.

Boise, Idaho. They have a following here because we used to have a summer festival that was big here, and they played the grand finale concert one year. Their energy was awesome. Since then they come back quite a bit.
