Does anyone agree with me on this. I live in California so I may be off base, but they are talking about 2 nights of concerts( I assume 4 this year with Bruce there too). The tailgating which ends no later than 8(when the concerts begin) and if the concert is outside then the concert is usually over by 11pm. I cannot for the life of me figure these people that are sooooo adamant about preventing a good time. If you don't want to see what is going on during the tailgating then don't look outside. Close your curtains or whatever and watch re-runs of Gomer Pyle. The places I have seen Jimmy, the law enforcement has done a good job of keeping everything within the lots. I have never seen an arrest in all the concerts I have been to. They really need to remove the stick from wherever it is stuck and relax some. Or just move. They live next to a stadium for god's sake.
Maybe we should spring for some tickets for these people so they can see what a good time is and how it can prevent sticks from entering their openings. And the councilman that said he would oppose the concert unless there was a ban on tailgaiting should be dressed in nothing but an aloha shirt and tied to a pole in the middle of the RV section and people play pin the tail on the ass(donkey of course). If there was a history of riots or destruction then ok I can understand concern. But just to argue for arguments sake is ridiculous. The only people that have a right to complain is the clean up crews.
CAN I GET AN AMEN ON THIS??

Nope.

This is a VERY crowded section of the city, with narrow streets and lousy traffic flow. The folks won't even be able to get into or out of their houses the day of the concert, for a good 8 hours. I think they have a right to be concerned, as many people coming to baseball games arrive just before the game and leave immediately afterwards. PH's will arrive as early as possible and stay until they are told to leave. I can see their point...
Which is why we should just move the whole party back to Great Woods!! 8) :pirate:

Bruce is not playing at Fenway this year so they are trying to host 2 concerts both Buffett shows, the friday show would be at 8 the sunday show at 3. From what I have read the people who live around fenway have no problem with Buffett playing there but they have problems with 36,000+ people tailgating all day in a small area and if you have ever been to fenway there isn't any room to tailgate no matter what mumbles menino says. There are plenty of bars around Fenway and the bar owners are all for the concert but they want the buisness but if people tailgate like they do at Great Woods that is less money for the bar owners. I say close down Lansdown, Van Ness Street and Yawkee Way and only allow people with tickets into this area, let the people who own the bars and clubs around Fenway set up stands outside and sell food and drinks (ala Taste' of Chicago). That would allow them to make money and allow the people tailgating to roam around. It would cost the fans a allot more money and make for a long day walking around but it is only for one year and after all the good times JB has provided us at Great Woods over the years if he really wants to play at fenway this one time I don't have a problem with it, I am sure I won't have a problem adapting to it.

quote="qball62" If there was a history of riots or destruction then ok I can understand concern. "

*Just for the record* There have been a history of riots and destruction after red sox games and after the superbowl where not only were cars flipped over but one person was killed just this past february. As mentioned it is a crowded city area, there is just not enough room for all of the phans and traffic, and noise level is another concern. But ultimately, "if he plays, will come" and I agree.. what'd you expect living next to the stadium!!!

I meant riots and destruction at JB's concerts.
A question for you guys out there. If it is so much better at Great Woods, why is it being moved??
Is Fenway cheeper? Fenway sounds like it isn't a great spot to have anything but dog shows. J/K but it doesn't sound like the area can handle larger events. I have read many posts about how great Great Woods is. I mean it's even in the name. Why do you think they are not having it there? Who makes the choices? Do you think Jimmy even really cares where he plays.
Rumor has it that Irvine isn't going to happen this year. It is one of the best tailgate/concert combo around. I hear San Diego was awesome too and again rumor has it SD is a no go. What gives??

The reason Fenway is in the Works is because JIMMY wants to play some stadiums!

I think the pull is the opportunity... fenway way is an older ball field with alot of history behind it and jimmy would be the second musician ever to play there, Springstein being the first last year. I agree that Buffett fans are not known for rioting/destruction.. but the wounds are still pretty fresh for these fenway residents from previous events. And when even the phans, myself included, are saying the venue/area can not handle us all phlocking into their neighborhood, I think they have right to be concerned.

1st, It's being moved to Fenway just so he can say he played at Fenway. It's supposed to be an honor or ego trip or something.
And B, , There is absolutely no way Fenway will be cheaper than Great Woods. It will end up being more expensive and tickets will still be incredibly tougher to get. Just ask anyone who tried getting playoff tickets last year how hard it is. And that was for more than two dates!
OK, I'm really getting worried and upset now. :x

As hard as it for me to say this, I think it is true.....Jimmy cares not about the Fenway / great woods argument he wants the $$$$$. The only reason he is consedering Feenway is because he can pack about 60,000 (including people on the field) into that place. That's big $$$ for him. I love Jommy as much as the next person but I think he is selling out. :pirate:
