Alpine Valley Tailgating - New Rules
Just noticed this on Alpine's website:
http://www.alpinevalleymusic.com/jb.asp
Are they enforcing some new rules this year, or is this just something they always post but shouldn't be taken too seriously? Some of the rules seem pretty specific to Buffett..

When life hands you limes..make Margaritas!!
honestly I've never looked at the rules at alpine since I never really thought it was a big deal. These rules would really cramp alpine's style...doesn't look much better than tinley if they plan to enforce this...
I know in the past they've always said 3 but its turned out closer to noon or 1. I don't know where people are going to be expected to go if the arrive early as it says there will be no parking on the side roads...hmmm, anyone with connections that can validate these new 'rules' ?

I don't know if those are new or not, never heard of the $50 fee for the oversized parking before. Some of it sounds like old rules that are never inforced. They use to saw stuff about beach balls and sharks but I don't see that either. I have a feeling they post the "rules" just so they can say they have rules.

Hi All:
We are always interested in what our guests think and that is the reason that I have been reading the message board for the past few weeks. I saw these posts regarding our theatre policies and thought it would be a good time to introduce myself.
I by no means want to cramp the style of any of the Buffett fans (or this message board) as we know that the Alpine show is highly sought after due to the atmosphere it provides. Believe me, it's a fun show to work and manage as well.
Also, I would be happy to say hello in person on the day of show and introduce myself as well as I am always interested in meeting the folks who travel from around the country to our shows.
In terms of the new "rules", they are a reiteration of the policies that have been in place, but not overly enforced over the past few years. These rules are in place for a number of reasons, most of all to improve guest safety. Most of all, we want everyone to be safe, have a good time, and allow our theatre operations to function efficiently. I can comment on specific policies if you have questions. Please post and I will certainly do my best to give you some background.
Best regards,
Brian, Security Manager

Thanks for posting Brian...I think we all understand the need for some "rules" and hope that the venue stayes the same as far as providing the best Buffett show around...
My question is about the buses....if we are taking charter buses and have been for years, is there anything different this year or is this for the people who rig up old school buses like an RV?????
Are you a parrothead? We are all very friendly here and if give the opportunity to socialize without being hassled, the good ones will always buy you a drink.... Be on the lookout for BUffettnews nametags...we are the best group!

The bus areas will be the same as in years past. This applies to all larger vehicles whether they be busses, campers, RVs, or old school busses.
The policies are listed on our website. We do ask that you keep aisleways clear enough to allow emergency vehicles through. To allow for adequate parking for everyone, we are also requesting that any setups not be put in parkable areas or impede our aisleways. This is mainly for guest safety as there were a number of areas last year that were not easily accessible for our first aid vehicles to attend to injured guests which resulted in increased response times. Our goal is to get to everyone as quickly as possible when help is needed and to do that, we need your help as well.
There will also be a $50 fee for any oversized vehicles (listed on our website). This is due to the increased cleanup and security costs for a larger number of people in a smaller area.
Hope that helps to explain things. I will be on the lookout for the nametags on the day of show. You will see me driving around on an ATV throughout the parking lots and the theatre.
Regards,
Brian

Great point. We do define oversized vehicles on the website as follows:
"Any vehicle that occupies more than one normal vehicle spot. This includes but is not limited to busses (charter, school, converted school busses, etc.), campers, RV's, and vehicles with trailers."
In addition, our parking staff will be directing all of these vehicles to enter at our main entrance on the day of the show (as they have in the past).

The fee is new and with any new policy, there may be some that are surprised by it. That is why we have posted it early on our website. We will also have a special "What You Need To Know For Day Of Show" PDF sheet available on our website for all shows. You will see this as the show gets closer. This sheet will outline the fee.
In addition, we are notifying all local campgrounds that accept RVs and campers, all local bus companies (going as far as Madison, Green Bay, and Milwaukee), and other companies that may be impacted so they are aware of the charge as well.
We are doing our best to let people know ahead of time to avoid any surprises. That is also one of the other reasons that I am posting messages here, to get the word out ahead of time.
Regards,
Brian

Brian - maybe you can answer a question many people around here, including myself, seem to have. How many pavillion seats are actually available to the general public?
Last year I got through via the internet almost immediately & ended up in 203, Row ZZ. This year it's 201, Row VV. Don't get me wrong, after seeing how many people got shut out completely I'm happy to have any tickets at all.
Still I have to wonder what chance I have going in of ever ending up in a 100 section, or even down front in one of the 200's?
Maybe you know, maybe you don't, but you seem to be a better option than John Q Public.

Here is how our formula works for figuring out the times of when to open and we also have this in our business license with Walworth County which we have a good working relationship with. We don't want to do anything that would violate that license or you would not see any future shows at Alpine Valley.
For most shows, the theatre entrance gates will open 2 hour prior to the show start time (8:00pm start for JB, 6:00pm gate opening time). The parking lots then open 3 hours prior to the theatre gate opening time (6:00pm gate opening time, 3:00pm parking lot opening time). That would give all guests five hours in the parking lots to enjoy themselves prior to the show should the choose to do so.
We need to do our best to provide the best experience to our guests while balancing the impact on our neighbors and the County.

Brian

Hey UWParrot,
I can attest that people really do get front row, center tickets through ticketmaster. I would have never believed it myself, but witnessed it with my own eyes on Saturday. The first lady in line (who got there one minute before me
) got row C, dead center......I will never live with myself again! And, the next transaction was lawn....it is all about how fast the outlets and the internet users are......there are so many networks operating at the same time, it is all hit or miss......
