Ron Raney wrote:It seems to Me that alot of phans got the short end of the stick this weekend. If you are like me, ( I got nothing) Would You boycott Jimmy this year? or would You still give him your hard earned money? If You go on any ticket scalper website. There are thousands of tickets to be had for the right price. Since I need both of my kidneys I will not buy anything Buffett this year. Something has to be done, so the phans not scalpers can get tickets. So, My question is this If you got shutout would you still buy Buffett stuff?
Do you think Jimmy has any control over scalpers? No, he doesn't. Does he tell people to go out buy tickets and scalp them? I don't think so. Because some people can't get tickets does that mean the entertainer they desperately wanted to see is no longer their favorite? No. Can't put all the blame on him for this when it is out of his control. So I couldn't get tickets to the World Series, do I hate baseball now? No. Your reasoning and logic are slight flawed.

OOPS! Someone posted on the WRONG message board.

Life isn't perfect...it's a challenge.
Challenge yourself to find tickets...try the ticket trade or possibly ebay...or get 'em at the show just before it starts...tickets (for football games at least) get REAL cheap real fast about the time the show begins. :-?

Remember...this board is a FAN board...not a BOYCOTT board.

Catch y'all later.

That will really solve the problem. Don't buy Jimmy's CD's or a T-shirt and tickets will be available for everyone. One thing really doesn't have anything to do with the other.

Sounds like you have had enough of the whole gig Ron. I can see your point if your limit is being tested. But like somebody already said, this is a phan site where you find much more support for JB then you will find naysayers.

Boycott

 I don't want to not buy Jimmys stuff, But there has got to be a better way to get tickets. If enough phans rag to Jimmy, maybe he'll listen and find a better way. Via mail, point of sale, something. Its not right that brokers can sell 500 lawn seats at $100 ea. (upfront tickets has that at their web site) Somebody is getting really good online.

No it is not right that scalpers get a lot of tickets. Be grateful for what you do get. I have seen Jimmy 14 times in the last 3 years. I am going through problems getting tickets right now too. Does that mean Jimmy doesnt care about his fans now, but did when I was able to get tickets. NO! Everything doesn't come easy. This board has been full of bitching about Jimmy, tickets, and Fenway for too long now. Sorry if I come off as an a**hole here, but I dont think that was the point of the board!

Ya know Mike, I agree totally, but Im thinking it's getting to us all a lil more, cause NOT only are we reading it on the boards, but it's on the damn news all the time, make a decision and go with it people....I just wish they hadnt said anything till the knew for certain
Cant blame Jimmy for this mess... :x

while i fully agree that any kind of boycott is ridiculous and would have no impact other than to keep you from enjoying something you love i also question the mentality of "i'm lucky to get whatever i can".that attitude will in the long run get you less and less because the people in charge know that no matter what they hand out people will stand in line like bums at a free wine tasting.i dont have any idea what should be done but there has to be something

Boycott Jimmy

Post by Cultural Infidel »

No, I wouldn't. Of course I should add that while I have every album he has ever put out or appears on, all the books and DVD and always have 2-3 of the slots in the CD player full of JB discs, I have never seen him in concert and most likely never will. Concerts are just not my thing so you guys can have my tickets. Honestly, I would be more likely to boycott him for supporting Kerry than anything ticket related, he has no control over the ticket distribution.

Boycott Jimmy?!!! You have got to be kidding!! Who would do such a ridiculous thing. We get shut out every year through ticketmaster for the Great woods show. Yet we have still managed to go 4 years in a row, when this Fenway thing started happening we never complained. Instead we got tickets to Raleigh and will pack up the kids for a family road trip!! If you want to see Jimmy bad enough there is always a way. It is a great experience no matter where you see him!! I will buy his new book & CD the day they come out, PHINS UP!!!!!

Boycott the guy for being popular? Are you serious?? Scalped tickets are going to exist no matter what. I don't enjoy spending $$$$$$$$ for tix, but I chose to be a parrothead and I choose to go to the shows. Personally, I like to sit in the first 15 rows.... you can imagine how much I spend per year. I don't have to do it..... I want to!!! You can choose to boycott Bubba and his merchandise, but if you think you're going to start some kind of movement..... think again!!

IN ORDER FOR BOYCOTTING TO HAVE ANY EFFECT ON THIS OR ANY OTHER ISSUE IT WOULD HAVE TO CAUSE HIM FINANCIAL LOSS SO THAT HE HAD TO CHANGE OR HE WOULD HAVE TO GIVE A SH*T THAT YOU WERENT PERSONALLY AT HIS SHOWS.I DONT THINK EITHER ONE IS A REMOTE POSSIBILITY SO GIVE IT UP

I am continuing my anti-boycott by buying 2 lawn tickets for Cincinnati on E-Bay. I actually paid slighltly less for these tickets than I did for 2 lawn tickets to Indianapolis that I bought from Ticket Monster. So as of this moment, Hubby & I are going to Charlotte, Columbus, Indianapolis, Alpine Valley, Chicago and Cincinnati. Let the travels and the parties begin!! :D
