So Tired of your Ticket Pricing Woes...

Yeah, it's true. People are now paying $59.95 for a shirt at J. Crew. $70.00 per ticket to see Jimmy. Hmmm... let’s say there are seven people on stage and Jimmy gets $30.00. That's 40 bucks to split among 6 people. Include the thousands that the venue charges for the electricity and the space and all the employees checking tickets, pouring your drinks and security...plus the 4-8 tour buses (estimate) gas at $2.00 a gallon, lodging, food and their own entertainment for their own sanity, I think we're getting a great deal. :pirate:

Now talk about merchandise, that's a different story. I will never pay $30.00-$35.00 for a tee shirt... I don't care if Jim Morrison himself came back to play! Tee-shirts when mass produced cost only 2-3 bucks each -now that's a profit margin!!!!!!

I remember in 1982 I saw Iron Maiden for $10.50 - that was 11th row center! Man am I old. And don't tell anyone that I saw Iron Maiden! That Eddie mummy was scary… !!!

I remember when a t-shirt was $4 and thought I was getting screwed when they wanted $7 for a "jersey" style shirt (3/4 sleeve different color than the shirt).

well last year at Nissan, I did purchase a t-shirt for the $30'ish dollar amoutn and let me tell you it is now priceless becasue if I had not purchased that t-shirt I would not had been able to get it signed by Jimmy after the concert....so, you see, it is all in what you want. I will purchase another one this year and chances are that this one will not get signed, however that is a chance I am willing to take because having the memory of getting the shirt signed is something that I will never forget..... :D :D :D :D :D

Kurt I kinda agree with you. I guess nobody likes the prices but there is nothing we can do. Pay them, don't pay them..whatever. I know in our groups case we got lucky thus far. Note I didn't say we were happy about the price. We got lucky to get tickets @ $100 a piece in Atlanta. Next year we may not get that lucky and I will do whatever I have to in order to get tickets. I will try to avoid scalpers but I will either choose to go or not and the price won't matter. No matter what happens I won't open up a million threads and whine about it! I will s*** it up and do what I need to do.

Amen to that Rick! You'd swear JB cancelled Christmas for the amount of crybaby BS we've had to wade through around here recently.

Regrets

One of my greatest regrets was that I didn't go see Willie Nelson at the Exchange Club Fairgrounds in Ladson, S.C., in 1987 because I thought $17 was way too much to pay for a concert ticket. My husband went and still talks about how cool it was. And one of the friends he went with has since passed away. I spent the afternoon reading on my patio instead of making a memory!!! My point is, if you deem that it's worth it, you spend it. If not, don't, and take a chance you'll live to regret it.

The price of everything is going up(gas, a gallon of milk, hookers, etc.). 15 years ago I bought my 1st car and the car payment was less than $100 a month now you can't get a decent car for less than $350 a month. We can complain and moan about everything costing too much or being a ripoff or not fair. My 3 year old is finally potty trained and is growing up faster than I want. The point of all this is: quit complaining and enjoy all the little things that you can. Have a margarita and chill. Now that I am done I am going to go read my daughter some more posts on the board.

I probably should have not used that word. I may run for public office some day and it may come back to haunt me.
