I am from Boston and I agree with what the other locals have posted. The fenway area is loaded with bars, but they are small and will fill up quick.
Also trying to find a reasonably priced hotel is crazy. Anyone have any luck on that end.
I have been living for Sept. 12 since tickets went on sale. Got lucky and got field seats!
What is up with beer sales inside Fenway? Some media said no beer being sold inside the park! How ridiculous is that??
Oh well, I'm glad I found you guys.

-Ova 40 Victim of Fate
Welcome!!! I heard the no beer sales inside Fenway also but I doubt it's true... That's where they'll make all their money... I'm shooting for BBW's but if that doesn't work baseball tavern and if that doesn't work the Cask and if that doesn't work Copperfields and if that doesn't work.... LOL, Then I'll be buying a six pack and will sit in the middle of the road... :D :P
I have been to Fenway quite a few times this year and I asked the people working the beer stands if beer was going to be sold. They all said it was going to be sold, the owner of the concessions told Fenway brass that if beer can't be sold they won't sell anything and would not open for either of the shows. :D :D

FENWAY IDEAS

I just spent about an hour going through this entire post and I know some of this is redundant, but living in Boston my entire life I can lend some advice.

For a mass gathering: Jillians is currently finishing up remodeling one of their function/banquet rooms on the 3rd floor above Tequila Rain/Jillians/Lucky Strike...not sure when it will be done or if it is already booked but you may want to look into that.

Bars will all be open by 11am: I spoke to the manager at Tequila Rain a couple weeks back and he said they all plan on being open by 11am and said they are expecting long lines like they experienced during the Sox playoffs.

Harbor Cruise: I had a posting on craigs list a while back about organizing a cruise on the harbor before the Sunday show. I spoke to several companies that were willing to do it, but the crew I had favored renting a bar over the boat. Here is a list of companies to contact if interested in organizing a boat cruise:

www.accruiseline.com
www.bostonyachtcharters.com
www.odysseycruises.com
www.massbaylines.com
www.charlesriverboat.com

Beer in the Park: I spoke to a friend who is a Fenway Ambassador (and will also be working the concert) and she said they are definately selling beer inside the park. She said (like was mentioned) only Yawkey Way will be stopping beer sales when the show starts. FYI: you can get into the bar (Who's on First) on Yawkey Way even without a ticket, but you cannot get onto Yawkey Way, you use the back entrance for Who's on First.

Hopefully that has answered most questions. Feel free to drop me a line if you have a more specific Boston question. And if all else fails, I suggest renting a bar in the Fanueil Hall area. We are renting out Tias on the Waterfront and there are a lot of other bars in the area that are good deals if you have enough people, and all you have to do is hop on the Green Line from Gov't Center and take it 3 stops to Kenmore!!

hello from a fellow life long bostonian!

I have a small group that will hopefully be partying at the HoJos in Kemore Square... I booked a LONG time ago... If I remember correctly, it was $125 per night... We booked saturday night and sunday night... just because of the check in-check out times coincide with prime tailgate time... we have tickets for sunday's show

There is a possiblity that we might cancel one or both of those nights, so if that happens, i'll let people here know so they can snatch up the space if they want it....

Unfortunately, renting out entire bars is not in our budgets!!!

This law was changed last year. Most all liquer stores are open through-out Massachusetts on Sundays!

I am so sorry!! I posted false infomation a few posts back. Regarding liquer sales on Sunday in MA. I left MA in May 2002. I did not realize that the law has changed recently. I am still looking for something special to do before Sunday's show.

The Patriots are playing on Thursday night so you won't miss the game. That will be a rough 2 weeks. Jones Beach on Labor Day Weekend then the Pats and 2 more Buffett shows at Fenway. I may need a vacation after all that.
All this partying is alot of work.

According to the front desk they still have rooms available. www.bostonhotelbuckminster.com Let's make the Buckminster a Parrothead village! Push for the 6th floor. If you have a room, let us know... finsupnh@comcast.net

I just went through the ordering process. They charge a ridiculous $16.95 for shipping via FedEx 2 day (there's no other option for shipping) so buying 1 ticket is kind of pricey. If you have a group going you should buy as many as possible in one shot (they charge $2.10 per ticket ordered as a processing fee).

Just an FYI!

Sounds like this pre-party will be a lot of fun... we still have the bus that can pick us up even in Worcester ... or we can still have a pre-pre-party at my house where everyone can safely leave cars and crash over when the bus drops us off... what do you all think? Oh, I live in Princeton.. about 20 minutes north of Worcester... I've got to get an idea how many people are on the bus! We'll have cocktails and some grubbs onboard as well... we can decorate to an extent as well! ;-)

phins !!! ~~~~~~~~

Very cool! Would you be interested in joining in our bus?! It's a school bus that will drop us off at Fenway... we're talking now about hitting the PHCOEM / WAAF pre-party across the street then to the show, then back to central MA. I've got quite a bit of space and we can all hang out while we wait for the bus ... I think we can fit around 40 people?! <mike, you around.. help me out with the #'s!> maybe more and have about a dozen or so at the moment...

Cost - $20 for the pick up / drop off, and like I said, you can leave your car safely at my house... we're making up Tonga Juice for the ride! mmmmmmm...

This would be a great way not to worry about parking in Boston and dealing with havign a few too many! ;-)

Let me know!
