I appreciate Jimmy's humor on most songs, I admire him wanting to branch out and do different types of stuff but for chrissake why did he ever do that HORRIBLE "Elvis Imitators" ? Someone once said on here "that is what the skip to the next song button is for on the CD player" DAMN they are right! UGH!!!

I like Voulez-Vous Danser, but Hokey Pokey is a song that gets skipped over every time. I've never heard Math Sux, just because of the negative feelings it invokes in so many people around here. How could so many Parrotheads be wrong?
Math sux isn't that bad! It's meant to be funny just like Hokey Pokey, Jogging and several others. He doesn't always write a story but I hope he never does Elvis Imitators in any concert that I am attending!

As I said, I have avoided that song but now this is intriguing... what's so bad about it? The lyrics? The beat? Melody? ...I have NEVER heard one kind word spoken about Elvis Imitators?!!

I am not a fan of Mademoiselle. I skip over it every time. I don't like Math sux or hokey pokey either.

I know there a couple others that I always skip over but I cannot think of them right now.

One more thing, I used to always skip over Creola but once I started listening to it the song kind of grew on me. It it still not one of my favorites but it is an OK song to listen to.

I'm not crazy about Creola. I heard it in an elevator once. Ever since then it reminds me of um....well, elevator music. I hated Zydecosmobile until I loaded it onto my MP3 and ran to it. It has a great beat for running to.

Okay - I'll stand up for Elvis Imitators. First of all, I think it was recorded as more of a lark than anything else. Note that it doesn't appear on any studio album and according to Steve Goodman (who wrote it - along with such gems as Banana Republics, This Hotel Room, California Promises, etc.) when Jimmy recorded it, he did so under the nome de plume of Freddy & the Fishsticks.

Personally, I think the lyrics are hilarious - especially if you think back to the actual craze that followed Elvis' death and still exists to some degree today.

But hey, that's just one guy's opinion.

Now, as to what I consider unlistenable? How about half of the 'Off to See the Lizard LP'. I'd rather gouge my eyes out than listen to: Strange Bird, Boomerang Love, I wish Lunch Could Last Forever, Gravity Storm, Memaids in the Night or Why the things We Do? So I don't.

Well, so far it looks like if we all we’re to go to Hell  , this would be the set list that we would have to endure for eternity – oh and we would all be drinking Odoul’s and everyone would be dressed in business suits (cringe)…

Big Rig
Hokey pokey
Math sux
Voulez-Vous Danser
You call it Jogging
LTC
Strange Bird

Intermission – No..no..no… can’t make a beverage run in Hell…this is where the lights come on and we all have to take tests that resemble a GRE… the Math Section.

Creola
Livin' It Up
Slow Boat to China
Boomerang Love
Altered Boy

Encore 1- My Barracuda
Encore 2- Elvis Imitators

anything else we missed? :D

meisinger's avatar is most amusing!

Fool Button's avatar is awesome - do you own that pick, and if so, is there a story behind it, or did you just pick it up?

As for the song, i don't have the energy for negativity this morning.
