Ok, I don't have too much information on this, I literally just got woken up with a phone call telling me this, but the first single released to radio off of the License to Chill album will NOT be a duet with a country artist. It will be a TRIO. Jimmy Buffett, George Strait and Alan Jackson will release a trio together this spring. Sorry I don't have any more info on this, but I figured I'd post what I knew as soon as it came in.

(Plus, it gives the haters more time to complain.)

I can see that, maybe this is the hold up, last minute thing where they were getting the three of them to do a new song for the album because of there Texas show. Maybe this will push up the date of the album release some, lets hope.

Ilph, where did you get your info?

Hmmm... If that's true, then Kenny must be pretty T'd off! :o

Well, regarding Kenny, I doubt he's too upset. The LTC disc wound up in the hands of 5 million SI readers at the time his new album was being released. And his current single "When The Sun Goes Down" (this week's #1 on Billboard) is a duet with Uncle Kracker. I don't think he or his label (even though LTC is on Buffett's imprint) would want to follow up one duet with another duet. They'll ride that number one success with a solo track from Kenny's album especially since he's about to hit the road in support of the new album.

The timing was just all wrong for License To Chill (the song) with Kenny's new album having just been released. Just my opinion though.

It came from a radio service called Nashville Insider. The guy that does it is known for his stories being reliable. He doesn't report them until everything's set, from what I hear.

Did he say when the single would be released for radio play?

I have no doubts that it will be released to country radio. Alan, George and Jimmy on one song it would have to be on the radio. A sure number 1 hit. I'm also happy to see that Buffett is closing the show. Wouldn't want it any other way.

Fins Up!
