Club Trini - Cafe Margaritaville CDs

Post by QuietNoise »

I just received my two Cafe Margaritaville CDs from Amazon. I really love them! A couple of weeks ago, we had a thread on this forum about obscure JB songs. I read some titles in that thread that I had never heard of. Some research brought me to the Club Trini and Late Night Gumbo CDs. I think they are great and I am so excited to have some new material to listen to.

What has been said here about them? Do you like them? What is the history? I did a search, but being somewhat new, I can't get the search thing to work productively for me.

I also borrowed a copy of Reggae Accident. I love that song as well.

So thanks for the tip. I am enjoying your forum so far. I'm not sure I can participate in the Worst Song Buffett Bracket thing. Every time I contemplate confessing to my "least favorite" songs - I feel so mutinous!

Anyway, I interested in some feedback regarding Club Trini and Late Night Gumbo.

Thanks! :)

Club Trini was my first cd buy af buying all of Jimmy's cds. I must say I like Late Night Live the most, and not just because JB pops in on a few songs. The cds are fun and tropical. and WOW Robert Greendige rocks on the pans.

Just as a side note, have you ever heard of Jim Morris or Sunny Jim? They also offer a tropical flair. check em out, www.migrationmusic.com

And as a shameless pimp, our own Key Lime Lee, MR. Lee Totten has a cd out too, pretty good stuff. www.leetotten.com

Thanks Sidew13! That's exactly the kind of info I'm looking for. I love the Late Night CD too. There is an atmosphere of fun that can be gleaned from listening. I don't know if it's the background talk and crowd sound or if it's those terrific drums. I will write down the artists you have suggested and look into them. Thanks a lot.

Has anybody heard of this guy, Pan Dave (Dave Lapto). As the name sounds he plays the steel drums. He has a few CD's out one of which covers some of Jimmy's tunes. Check out the link.
