Y-NO-9-O wrote:I got up this morning and had to come in to work. A little guilty pleasure, but I always check the discussion board here at BN first. Has anyone else noticed the high level of negativity going on? “Worst song ever”, “Why not my town”, “Ticketmaster (nuf sed)”, “Why country”, “Willis or Willie” (I even joined that one), and the rant of the 16 year old (wait until that’s his boss and co-worker he’s talking about).
On the way in to work I was listening to A-1-A and nearly lost my voice. It is 50 degrees, the sun is out and it promises to be one of those Chamber of Commerce days.
So I am here to tell you I am thankful.
I am thankful for such a beautiful day, even if it means I have to look out the window to experience it. If we were under 2 feet of snow, I would be thankful that I am not too old to sled (42 and counting). If it were raining, I would be thankful that I don’t have to use the sprinklers and my lawn would still be green. I am thankful for this forum that allows us to tell people how we feel.
But, I am most thankful that Jimmy has not retired. We might not like every song, but when he stops playing them, well, I don’t even want to think about that!
So, I hope you all have a great day and enjoyed my positive post.
Circles, cycles. A look at the first post of this thread and you will see it was posted 4/2/04 (now it's 44 and counting and I am even happier). The players change but the message stays the same: Wah wah wah.

I may have got sucked into a few of the negative posts myself. . . so much so I went vacationing on B**ffettw***d for a couple of days. By the way since my post was mentioned by Y-No, I just thought I would mention, I wasn't so much bitching about the fact JB doesn't come here anymore, but wondering why he stopped. There are some crazy urban legends here in Utah surrounding it.

Anyway, I like this thread. The positivity is positively refreshing!

The posts are positive, I'm migraine free this morning, and the day is cloudy, but not raining (which it's been doing the past few days).

Thanks for keeping the morning positive on this PALM Sunday day!
:D :D
:D AMEN :D

:D Any day that is headache free is a beautiful day for me too! :D

Great posts, everyone should stop and count their blessings,
and give thanks for what they have, instead of what they don't have
or what might be.

I come here to escape the negativity of the world.
Lately thats been hard to do. Jtrev is abolutely right
there has been a lot of negativity here lately. Makes
me reconsider what I'm doing here at times! :(

We all have a common bond that draws us here, lets keep it fun! :D

:D HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY :D

PHINS UP!
The keets are tucked away in bed and my aching head feeling pretty good (for now). Thought I'd check in at BN as I usually do this time at night, knowing all the while I'd see plenty of negativity. It's almost a given, and it's getting old! :(

And then, I see this thread from TWO years ago. WOW! :o I really thought this was a recent thread, it seems it could have been started today. I then saw my post (talk about your senior moments, I didn't remember posting anything today  ) I honestly had to do double take. It was until I saw the date and really read through the thread that I realized this was from two years prior.

Things really don't change much around here, do they? Several months ago I took a fairly long break from BN for many reasons, but the negativity being one of them.

I guess I just don't get it...

All Jimmy Buffett has done is make a fantastic living from showing us all how to take a break from our everyday doldrums and escape to margaritaville. In my most humble opinion, every penney I sent his way has been very well spent for that exact reason.

The vast majority of us parrotheads have much to be thankful for. Just today God has sent Denver some very much needed moisture. Today I was headache free all day long (I'm very happy about that). One year ago my father-in-law was diagnosed with cancer, today he's still very much alive and kicking.

And JUST NOW, my two year old just woke up and came running into our family room just to, "sit on Daddy lap." Now this is what life is ALL ABOUT! :D

Kurt, thanks for bringing this thread back to life!!

What a great thread. Its' been snow-ice here for the last 12 hours, but this morning's looking better and the 10 day forecast is for 60-65 and sunny. Pretty good for the midwest.

Thanks for pulling this thread out of the past. It's always refreshing to reflect on all the good stuff going on.

"Gonna thank my lucky stars...."

Have a great one. :D

I think the most depressing time of he year is Feb until May which may explain the negativity. For those in the working world there are no holidays after Presidents day until Memorial day. There is also the stress of finding tickets and the psychological aspect of making it through the last few days of old man winter. I think as the temperatures rise so will moral and every little things gonna be alright!!!!

I agree - this is a tough time of year. Lack of long weekends and winter that JUST WON'T QUIT (I was very confused by the reference to good weather until I noticed this thread is 2 years old....). Mix in a case of extreme spring fever.
I try to curb those adversities by planning fun summer weekends and vacations. This has occupied most of my time the past couple of weeks. Something to look forward to, not the least of which is the summer tour, will help add a smile to everyone's face. :)
Bars and Ballads are readily available all winter long, but before long we can add Beaches and Boats! Now THAT's something to get excited about. :P

Presidents Day???? I don't even know when that is! But, the weather has been nice in paradise.........err, Florida. Look out though, winter isn't quite gone, I don't know about down your way but here, the highs are only gonna be in the 60's through the weekend! :x

It seemed to be frowned upon when an old ticket prices thread was revived the other day but this one makes many of the same points yet it's being celebrated. Go figure...

I do think it's interesting how nothing seems to have changed regarding the same subject matter being the topic of debate year in and year out though.

By the way, on the second day of spring here on the coast of NC it's chilly and raining but that just reminds of the old saying to "let a smile be your umbrella, just don't end up with a mouth full of rain".

Once again, wah wah wah.
Take a positive post and put a negative spin on it. I know, you will say "what did I do, what did I say, tell me where I was negative." This was positive. Go figure.

What you call a "negative spin" I call reality. I was addressing another thread in relation to this one, that only puts a negative spin on this thread if that's how you choose to see it. I'm guessing you saw the remainder of my post or perhaps you ignored in favor of focusing on what you percieved to be negative.

Thanks for the original post made.

Grew up in northwest Indiana and remember those last gloomy days of winter trying to roll away and anxious for the spring to begin. It's not the easiest of time. Did that way too long!

Listened to Buffett, listened to the lyrics, followed him like a 19 year old groupie, then finally, at 45 did something about it and moved to live that life.

All SHOULD be good, right?

Let me tell ya folks.... some of the whining really irks me.

Lost my father 3 years ago. Lost my mother 18 days ago while she was visiting me in St. Thomas. Kinda puts life in perspective.

Wake up each day, look outside, look at your children, think about your parents, cherish your memories, then go make new ones. You only get once chance at it. Give it your best and enjoy every second of it.

Minty, I envy your decision to move and mourn your recent loss. I'm glad you got a few more memories along the way. I revived this thread on the 6th anniversary of my mom's passing.
As you say, kinda puts life in perspective. People do need to "look outside" their own little "where's mine" worlds. If life gives you lemons, I have a great recipe for lemon meringue pie. PM me.
Your mother and father are in a place where they will be watching you every day. Posts like yours will make them proud.
Peace be with you my friend.
