I think we should all go visit Johnny and the beach bum band at CIP. I can tell you first hand, they put on a good show. Will make it worth your time.
Only time will tell, if it was time well spent!

we're staying friday and saturday night at le meridien on michigan avenue........it's close to wrigley so we'll head that way on friday to try and get tickets on the street. if we don't have any luck with that, we'll head to a bar and enjoy the game from a stool.

Recapping options:

a. Wrigleyville
b. Cheeseburger in Paradise, Downer's Grove - Johnny Russler and the Beach Bum Band
c. KeyWester, Naperville - Boat Drunks
d. Holiday Inn, Tinley Park - Tom Carey

My reviews:
a. Cubs s***
b. Johnny and the band are a ton of fun - they join in and interact with the crowd
c. The harmonica player nails it and freshens the memory of why we miss Fingers so much
d. Good music
You’re still grinning, we’re still winning, nothing left to say

Johnny and The Beach Bum Band have played with Jimmy many times at CIP. Could this be a repeat? :o What else would Jimmy have to do on a night off between shows then to party with these guys?

Too bad we can't do "e. All of the Above" You can't really go wrong with any of the choices

I've got a good suspicion that a certain someone will be singing the 7th Inning Stretch at Wrigley on 8/27. So if you have or can get tickets, that might be a good option even if you dislike the Cubs or can't stand watching Sammy Sosa strike out 7 times for every home run he hits.

If you haven't been to the Tom Carey Web Site in a while, this news might hit you kind of hard - I know it did me as TCB played at my wedding.

"Hello friends. The rumors are true. After fifteen years in the music bidness in Chicago, the greatest city in the world, I am hanging up my Hawaiian shirt. My wife Kathy has been offered a terrific position in Hudson, Ohio, where we will be moving this Fall. I hope to put together a "Last Waltz" type of show in September or October as a thank you to all of you who have been so kind to me and the boys over the years. Details will be here as I get them. In the meantime, please check us out when we're in your neighborhood one last time. Thanks, everybody. Hope to see you soon."

:o :o :o :o

Guess I'll have to go to Ohio to see him.
Searching is half the fun: life is much more manageable when thought of as a scavenger hunt as opposed to a surprise party.

I'm sorry to hear this news... Tom and his band were always good for a few shows up here in the northern burbs. My daughters' pics are on his site from a CIP show. I wish him the best, and O-HI-O may be the benefactor if he "gets the band back together".

Just heard on the radio that Mac is playing the House of Blues 8/27, and tix go on sale tomorrow (8/14) morning. If I'm not mistaken, those are all general admission aren't they?
