Hi all...
My fiance and I have a 3 1/2 hour layover in Montego Bay, Jamaica this summer during our flight to St. Lucia for our honeymoon. I was wondering if any of you had ever been to the Montego Bay airport before and could offer some tips on what to do during the layover. Is there anything near the airport that is worthwhile to go to? Please let me know, I'd rather not sit in the airport all afternoon! I'm guessing we'll have about 2 hours of free time between flights. Thanks!
Dan

Pirateparrot is correct. There is a Margaritaville right there in the airport. My wife and I and some friends had lunch there while waiting for a flight. It's actually pretty nice. The food is nothing sensational, but they have a decent bar and shop. My guess is that you'd be better off killing time there at the airport than trying to leave and get back to catch another flight. Have a great trip.

I just got back from the Montego Bay Airport a month ago. Here is the deal with Margaritaville in there. It is actually in 3 different places. There is one on the bottom floor. That one has a couple of seat swings, you can't miss it. Its by all the duty free shopping. After you take the steps up to the next level you will see another with a small gift shop and bar in front of it. If you continue down even further you will a full size margaitaville. It has all the dinners etc.. I actually almost missed the big part because I didn't realize there was still a full sized margaritaville there.

The way I understand it from reading online, there are 2 Margaritavilles in Montego Bay, Jamaica. The one in the airport is an "Air Margaritaville". Click this link for it....
http://margaritaville.com/jamaica/gleaner.htm The other one is a regular Margaritaville, but looks way cool. They've got a waterslide, parasailing, sailing cruises, snorkelling, and semi-submersible submarine tours! They also have dancing, pajama parties, karaoke, etc.! I need to go to this place and spend a few days! Here is the link to it........

I also agree that you should just hang at the Margaritaville in the airport. We were having so much fun there that we almost missed our flight home. You could EASILY kill 2-3 hrs there.
The only other thing I'd recommend is hiring a taxi to take you to the Margaritaville in MoBay town. You'd probably spend about an hour in transit to and from the airport, and get an hour at the restaurant.
MoBay isn't really much of a town to hang out in - high crime, much hussling, etc. So I'd recommend either the airport or the town Margaritaville.
Have a great time - St. Lucia is on my list of islands to visit in this lifetime! I've heard it's very lush and has more varied terrain/vegetation than many of the smaller islands.
