Jimmy's Songs Healing?

Good morning fellow Parrothead's. I wanted to throw something out and see if ya'll agree. Recently anything that could go wrong has and just when I think it couldn't get any worse it always does, but I'm sitting here listening to "One Particular Harbor" and suddenly I feel a little better. I could almost crack a smile in light of my darkness. I just keep listening to it over and over again and I feel better each time I listen to it. It's almost like I'm being taken to my 'One Particular Harbor' via Jimmy's song. Am I going crazy or can anyone else relate?

Hey... I'm not crazy...sometimes maybe a bit of a fruitcake, but definitely not crazy! :D

All I meant was certain songs of his, no matter how bad your feeling, can brighten even the worst of days. :D :D

I find lots of Buffett songs very uplifting and not just the obvious ones. If it weren't for his music during the wintertime (not that his songs don't sound equally as good any other time of the year) I'd go crazy myself.

Yes they do. I was messing with you as you know. Without making this long and drawn out let me say this. Buffett helped complete a chapter in my life or maybe I should say start a new one. All I know is that his music/words were instumental (no pun intended) in helping me get through some things and finding myself. Often times when I just want to escape his music or music of similar artists is the catalyst for that momentary escape from everyday madness!

They are and always have been my refuge. Whether it be lifting me out of it like "One Particular Harbor" can do or just letting me know I'm not alone out there, like "Coast of Marsailles" can do (I know, somebody else wrote the thing. I DO NOT CARE, I love the song and the way Jimmy puts his heart into it)

You are not crazy, you are not alone.

Jahfin...I agree I could not make it through winter without JB.....moving FROM Fl to RI is insane anyway, but when I listen to JB and turn the heat up to 90 I can at least pretend I am at home....well til my hubby gets home and wonders why we are out of gas the week after we had the tank filled.....do you know it costs $75 to re light the pilot.....hell I didn't even know what a pilot was til last year.

I agree 100% with CB and Rick. If it wasn't for Jimmy's music I don't know how I would have gotten thru some of the things I've been thru.

I even had surgery to Buffett. The anesthesologist (sp) asked what music I listened to and I told him Buffett and Segar. I heard them from the time I was wheeled into surgery and awoke after to Jolly Mon

I know a lot of Parrotheads are into Buffett for the escapism thing and I can relate to that as well but that's really not how I first came to his music (especially since it pre-dates the whole Parrothead phenomenon). From a very early age my father instilled a love of the ocean in each of us so that's what I related to first. That, and his gift for songwriting. Buffett music was always (and still is) our preferred soundtrack when out on the boat deep sea fishing and will continue to be as long as I live.

This may seem a bit extreme but Jimmy's music was a big help for me during my recent divorce. Whenever I was feeling down, I would throw on a CD and just chill on the couch until I felt better. Someone mentioned about ending one chapter in the book of life and starting a new one; how true that is!!

T Y Jimmy for helping me navigate through the rough sea's!!

Yeah, any time a song takes me away from problems and sets me down in a tropical paradise with a tall froofroo drink, it's good. However, one thing Jimmy could sing would make me really happy: "I'M COMING TO NASHVILLE SOON!!!" And in the key of C.

Best of luck with whatever it is that's troubling you. Not only does Jimmy's music help lift your spirits, but I hope BuffettNews.com can help bring a smile to your face as well. Even on my worst attitudital (I think I made that up) days, someone and / or something on BN will brighten my day!

You guys are proof of that today. I just woke up p***, and after teaching a crappy lesson this morning and a less than stellar morning at work, BN and my beach music list on Winamp have lifted my spirits. Thanks :D

Ya'll are all sooo great! Thanks for hearing me out and being understanding!!! I try to think positively about everything, but some days it is hard to do! I'm glad we all have somewhere we can share our good days and our bad days with being judged!!! :D :D :D
