Check these threads out. They go great with the BN lanyard:

I know what you mean. I went in 2001 and I can say that I have seen JB on the Today Show but I would never do it again. We got there around 10 pm the night before. We stood right next to the VIP section so we had a great view. It was really neat seeing JB play a few warm up songs but overall it was a really long time to stand around without being able to move and only hear 4 songs.

Hmmm....trying to decide when to show up for the Today show. My husband is making me a Phish widow this summer, so it's off to NYC for me. And isn't it convient that Jimmy will be playing while I'm there

When's soundcheck? If you're not looking for front row, but want something decent, when should you get there?

I'm almost thinking of swinging by and getting in line after hitting the bars Thursday night. But I'll be in club attire, not Jimmywear....hmmm?!?!?

For a decent view I wouldn't get there any later than 11 or 12. We got there around 10pm and there were already quite a few people in line. I beleive they first came out around 6am for sound check??? Can't quite remember though. When we were there in 2001 you had to wait on the street until 2am. This was pretty fun because you could come and go as long as someone held your place in line. At 2am they put you in these big corrals and at that point you can't leave and you can't even sit down. My girlfriends feet were hurting from standing so long that she tried to sit and everytime she did security would come and tell her to get up.

In 2001 I got there at about 4:00AM and was in the front row up against the metal police barricades but behind the stage. Last year I showed up at 8:30 Friday morning, met a co-worker in the lobby of 30 Rock, walked across the street and security let us right in. We were on the sidewalk by the side of the stage about 15 feet from Tina and Nadirah, right next to the door where the band came out of the building on their way to the stage. I have to see if I can do better this year.
what I really mean . . . I wish you were here

OKAY!!! EVERYBODY TAKE A DEEP BREATH!!

Last year as I recall, they let us into the corrals at about 4 am. So you could sit all night until 4. Then you have to stand until about 9 am. Okay yes, that's 5 hours of standing up. BUT!!! The soundcheck starts at about 5 am which is cool so you're not thinking about your feet. The worst part is from about 6 till 7:30 or so when you're just standing there waiting for the show to start and then listening to the news at the beginning. But shortly before 8 am Jimmy begins playing. There's 30 minutes or so between songs and toward the end of that 30 minutes you think about your feet again, but then Jimmy comes back on and you forget about it. Considering the fun of the experience, the annoyance of standing up pales in comparison! Don't be scared away!!! It's really not THAT bad!

One of those LonePalm-type blowup trees? Oh please don't hump it, you may get thrown out! Or worse, puncture it. Or even worse, make little monkey/palmtree babies.

Ah, yes........I have his female cousin in my back yard. WAIT.......you're gonna hump a male tree? Well, at least you don't have to worry about making little monkeyboy/palmtree babies there. Punctures still could be a problem. :o
