Chicago parking lot.....How is it?

Post by rrodick »

I need some help here. I tried posting in a different thread but think this will work better. I am new to BN but a long time hardcore PH. This year will be shows # 20, 21, and 22. I need to know everyones feed back about Chicago's tailgaiting. I usually do the Alpine Valley, and Pittsburgh shows and I know the tailgaiting is awesome, although I don't think anything could ever compare to Buckeye Lake. The reason I ask is I usually bring a full 4000 watt DJ system and perform in the parking lot (of course all JB) I was just wondering if I should go through the trouble of bringing the equipment with me on the road trip to Chicago. I know it's not worth it at Blossom or Polaris. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

Bribe the Cops. Some are nice. Some are A-holes. Alpine is much better.
Matter of fact I had more fun outside at the November 01 Minneapolis show. Was last there in 98 and will not go back!

Thanks! That's how I felt about Polaris in Columbus. Unfortunately I had prior arrangements for Alpine this year, so I'm trying Chicago. Hopefully I'll have a little "Love & Luck"

You should be able to bring your equyipment. Just depends if you feel it is worth it. The parking lot is all gravel...not very fun. You won't get in the lot until 3pm or 3:30pm and it's not all that easy to take up much more than one car space without the parking lot attendants getting grumpy. It's decent venue and a decent tailgate... not great. I would give it a B- or C+ With Alpine being an A

Thanks for all the help, I guess I'll just scale it down a bit. At least there is no fenced in area to party like some places. I'll wait to do the whole set-up for the Pittsburgh show, if it happens.

Also, I got pavillion seats Sec. 105 row BB, any good?

As far as space when you park, have everyone get out of the car right away, even before you put it in park and kinda take a lil bit of more roomon the sides. Also try to leave yourself a few feet of extra in the front untill the row fills up and then pull foward. You'll have plenty of room and the security is pretty easy going. There a post somewhere that has a picture of security doing a beer bong.

Here's the venue map...

Depends on how far over you are in Section 105---the lower the number the better.

I think now that Tweeter owns the place things have gotten better the last two years. In prior years security would try to hurry everyone into the show, they haven't done that the last two years. Now granted they don't open the lots until 3:00 and the lot is crushed limestone...Unless you have some sort of covering for your equipment count on it getting very, very dusty. Everything that I pack back into the car has a layer of limestone dust on it...The tailgate is not as good as Alpine or the 'burgh (I've been to both more than once) but its all what you make it.
