Dallas

Post by The Lost Manatee »

I heard an interview with Jimmy about this and he said he never had a problem with Dallas, it was just something that worked in the song. He apologized to all the folks in Dallas saying that he had wonderful memories of how the people of Dallas supported him when he was playing junior colleges, bars and any other venue that would take him.

Now if you want a city that he doesn't like, try Salt Lake City. He doesn't like the Delta Center and has publically stated that he would "NEVER" play there again because of how bad the acoustics are. And you know, he hasn't been back since he played there.

He loves Savannah the most, just think about his first born daughter's name, but when we're at Lakewood in Atlanta, at least for those nights(and days) we've all found him a home. :pirate:

Red Parrot- Yeah I did make it to Cabo Wabo, but we mostly hung out at the bar outside the back of there where they have Rainbow shots! Cabo was a good time, didn't see Sammy but maybe next trip. You ever make it down there for Sammy's B-day, I heard it get CRAZY there!!

P.S. I think we should ask Jimmy where he likes to play most!

P.P.S. ever have one of those days where you want nothing more than to be at a parking lot party listening to Jimmy taking body shots off of strangers wearing grass shrits the leis? Yeah, everyday right!?!?!

I believe it has to be Cincy. It's where the people started dressing up and being Parrotheads right?

We have mountains, like Colorado when he started
We have the beaches, what he sings about
We have lakes and rivers, so he can go fishing
His lovely wife is a S.C. native
We will soon have 2 Margaritaville stores

SO........

JIMMY BUFFETT LOVES SOUTH CAROLINA

Jimmy's favorite city

Post by Caribbean Soul Man »

Everyone really knows Jimmy's favorite city is "Fincinnati!" After all, that's where the whole thing began with Timothy B. Schmidt exclaiming as he looked over the sea of tailgaters, "they're better than Deadheads, they're Parrotheads!"

But why doesn't he play multiple shows in Cinci anymore? He used to play 2 or 3 at a time.

My wife and I are catching the Cinci and Indy shows this year and I can't wait. We will be tuning in tonight to hear the first setlist.[/b]

8) I forget where I heard it first but I found this reference to it on http://tropicaldreams.net/m-reviews.htm

"JIMMYDOTCOM" ..... Jackson "Bubbafreak" Quigley

While quietly making noise in the early 70’s, no one, least of all Jimmy Buffett, had the slightest inkling of the sub-culture his fans would become. His following didn’t even have a name until 1985, when he and Timothy B. Schmit coined the term "Parrot Head," looking out on a Cincinnati crowd.

And the name stuck! When tales of the pre-concert fun leaked out, the corporate types couldn’t resist joining in. The original Parrotheads started dressing even more outlandishly, adorning themselves with more and more parrotphanalia in an effort to put some distance between themselves and this new "Alligator Shirt Wearing" crowd.

All hell broke loose in 1993 when the Internet and computers started to band this group together. It was like throwing gasoline on an open flame. Jackson Quigley and his Parrothead friends show the world for the first time, what a fun-loving and creative group they are in "JimmyDOTcom." Known as "Deadheads with a 401K Plan," Parrotheads from all over the world shared over 5,000 of their prized photographs with Quigley, and he was somehow able to whittle them down to the 1,500 that best represented his friends. As the Parrotheads, and even Jimmy Buffett himself, have been overheard to say, "Every picture tells a story, just ask a cameraman." This is a book "about" Parrotheads, "by" Parrotheads; for only they could tell such a story.

Jackson "Bubbafreak" Quigley has spent the last twenty-four years of his life with Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band supplying his background music, and was among the original online Parrotheads. He has witnessed this phenomenon from the inside and in true Parrothead fashion, quit the corporate management life to live on "Island Time." He currently lives in southern California as a "Left Coast" Parrothead.

This 250-Page, Full Color, Coffee Table Book can be ordered online at the "JimmyDOTcom" Web Site @ www.jimmydotcom.com
