DTinPA wrote:That's part of the reason we all like Jimmy. He embraces what is unique about every town and incorporates a local flavor into each show. Here in Philly he includes Pat Croce (former owner of the Sixers) and has Pierre Robert (local DJ) broadcast on Radio Margaritaville. And of course the inevitable cheesesteak references (Pat's, Geno's, and Jim's) before "Cheeseburger".

While I think it's really cool that he does that, I also realize that it's one of 30 or so towns he plays in each year. And wherever he is, he's thankful for the crowd that comes out.

Amen !!!! I have a copy of the 2002 show with Pierre, I listen to that part just as much as the music :D

Hello Parrotheads!

Yep, it's me....Jimmy.

From time to time I hope online under some unidentifiable usernames that even the smartest Parrotheads can't figure out.

Anyway, I've had enough of this "best venues" debate.

I've decided to break my silence, and go public.

My favorite playing venue for both playing...and the parking lot tailgate is Alpine Valley. Cheeseheads are the best Parrotheads. They're all half baked from the sun come June, July, August because they've learned to appreciate it. Most the year, those folks need a shovel! I love their dedication.

So that's my vote! See you July 10th!

--Jimmy

If I'm not at Alpine, I my second favorite venue is WRIGLEY FIELD!

Isn't this a lot like asking a parent which of their keets is their favorite? :D

He is playing Charlotte, Raliegh and Columbia...but he sleeps each nite in Charleston not far from Captain Harry's where he played in the late 70's.

Charleston is definitelt the spot. :pirate:

During the concert last night he said something about the food at the Renaissance. I figured Charlotte had a Renaissance Hotel he was staying at...maybe not. Just a guess.

I think he likes the Carolinas the best too!

Judging by the parking lot Saturday I'd have to agree... utter insanity...

I would think he likes playing in Florida so he can fly home after the show... just guessing... I get the feeling he likes France as well...

But he sure seemed to enjoy himself the other night!!

I'd throw Indy in the ring as his favorite city. It's been getting the nod over other towns lately, especially with two shows this year. Just my sixteen cents.
