I've debated with myself whether to post this link or not, but you all may want to hear this song even if it is not the "Coast of Carolina" Jimmy has been performing on this tour.

I like it

Whoever went to Tampa, is this the song?

Coast of Carolina Lyrics

Beneath this sky of gray, I remember brighter days
I miss the warm sunshine
Like a trawler in the twilight coming in at hightide
Sailing home is first on my mind.

I'm going back to the coast of Carolina
Where the sea meets tall pines on sandy islands
Rustling palm leaves sing while moonlight dances on the breeze
I'll ease my mind on the coast of Caroline.

Sand dunes sinking with the wind
Like the drifting way I've been
But I was born too far from your shores
I miss the smell of roasting oysters
And hearing sweet southern voices
Call to me like my mother ocean's roars

I'm going back to the coast of Carolina
Where the sea meets tall pines on sandy islands
Rusting palm leaves sing while moonlight dances on the breeze
I'll ease my mind on the coast of Carolina.

Now I've been across the mountains
And I've swum the restless sea
In my years of travelin
I've learned the place for me
This island by the sea

I'm going back to the coast of Carolina
Where the sea meets tall pines on sandy islands
Rustling palm leaves sing while moonlight dances on the breeze

I'll ease my mind on the coast of Caroline.
Yeah, I'll easy my mind of the coast of Caroline.

Good lyrics, but that's not it. I was at Tampa and remember the words of the chorus saying "From the bottom of my heart".

Your welcome, but I wish I could remember more of it. I guess ya gotta hear a song more then once to fully comprehend it.

Thanks, PM! :D I kept listening to the song conched sent us to,
and really liking it, but I couldn't remember enough particulars
about the one JB sang in Tampa to say that it definitely wasn't it.
I think the video that was shown while it was being sung was so
enthralling that it kept me from listening that closely. Bubba
really shouldn't hit us with new songs AND new pictures at the
same time!!! Too much for my little, rum-soaked brain to absorb!!!
I guess that's why we're so glad to have you younger guys around!

I can't believe I got CRS syndrome on this one! I'm from Charleston SC originally, and I spent a lot of times in boats there, so this song is right up my alley. I kept telling my wife "This is going to be my favorite Buffett song", but now I can't remember any of the words. It's a moderate to slow song with a steady beat! The only words I can remember are what PM said - From the bottom of my heart, off the coast of Carolina... I would have loved to be in Charlotte for this song and I can't wait to hear it in Dallas.

I have learned that it really does make you look forward to going to the concert and buying that NEW CD when you really are anxious about a song like Coast of Carolina. I guess I appreciate Jimmy more now for blocking it out on RM!! :) It has caused some anticipation.

I can't wait to hear Jimmy sing Anyhing, Anytime, Anywhere. I heard Jimmy sing it in Anaheim and have been listening to the Bruce Cockburn version over and over.

I heard this last night at the Raleigh show. Guys, this song really is incredible. Its definatly not the same one posted at the beginning of this thread, even though that is a great song too! Parrotheads and casual fans alike seemed to be captivated by this song and the pictures on the screen. I'm from the coast of Carolina so I may be partial, but this song gave me chills like the first time I heard Jimmy's version of Pacing the Cage. Jimmy and Mac wrote Coast of Carolina.

Did you notice any reference to North or South Carolina coast?

I was at Raleigh and Charlotte and this is definatley not the song that he played. This does sound like a good song but Jimmy's Coast of Carolina is unbelievable.

According to Jollymon's post it mentions Hilton Head Island which is in South Carolina.

Yeah but if that was from the Columbia show it might have just been one of those local references Jimmy is so famous for. Jollymon, what show did you go to? Do you remember any other lines?

I checked the books and while I never heard the tune it's by Michael Martin Murphey. Yes the same Murphey who with Jerry Jeff Walker and Willis Alan Ramsey made an expatriated "Memphisto" named Jimmy Buffett find spiritual enlightenment in Key West.

Jimmy said at the Raleigh show that he and Mac wrote it.
