:o :o I'm not calling anybody anything! There's too much name-calling going on in other threads

but yeah, it does seem VERY odd to have a summer tour named after your summer album when the album doesn't come out until late summer....

I agree, he should have toured early this summer, then again this fall to all the same locations, that could have been his album tour! More JB shows!

This confirms what I already said above! :-)

Still, does this mean the single will only be serviced to radio? Or will we have a crack at buying it via iTunes before the album is released?

This whole ordeal makes me think of Axl Rose's Chinese Democracy album. Its been 10 years since that album was first mentioned. And there is still no release date on the horizon. Hmm.

Maybe it is just me but how does it hurt anyone when an album is released early? Wasn't License to chill released going on 3 months ago in SI to however many million people. It just seems that the album would come out around ticket sale time, but then again some big whig up in la la land figured out that this makes more money.

Well, after this, Kenny's next release is supposed to be "Old Blue Chair" so I don't know if LTC is supposed to be the first single or not. This all makes sense if they're waiting for the Dallas concert.

More likely a big wig in Nashville... but labels don't just put out records - they market them. And they try to have a marketing plan in place before they do. My sense is there will be a big buildup to the release, with whatever single getting lots of radio play. Remember, this is a different kind of record - they're trying to get the country music fans too.

Frankly the parrotheads will buy the record whenever it comes out - this is probably about reaching a bigger audience.

I went through this delay stuff many times with Nintendo games (and they do it alot) but once that true release day finally comes, you find it was well worth the wait. I'm sure LTC will be no exception.

In the words of Tom Petty, "Waiting is the hardest part".

I just wish that mailboat would give up a little explanation. Dont keep teasing us with these "fake release dates" If there is a hold up let the phans know. At least then we would know why it is taking so long. I keep getting my hopes up with every date. I just dont understand the logic behind it. The SI cd, the LTC tour but no LTC cd yet. doesnt make sense. :o

I agree 100%, Mailboat should atleast give us an explanation, could you image if some pop star was to just start delaying their album and giving no reason, the world would end. I think Mailboat owes it to the phans!

They won't because it is a little technique called marketing (lousy advertizing executives, with their bad combovers and big comfortable spinny chairs)

Anyone else think that with the late release of the album Jimmy just might tour longer this year? Perhaps into the fall? Would make sense to me to keep the promotion of the new disc out there being that there is only 8 shows after Alpine to promote it. I noticed that Chicago is the first concert in August. Could there possibly be another go at Alpine as a warm up to Chicago? Not starting anything but a sure sellout of 40,000 tickets wouldn't make it too hard on my pocketbook if I was Jimmy.

It is going to be wild to hear the reason for the delay of the album when it finally come out... If there even is an album, hmmmmmm, maybe it is all a big hoax.

From musictap.com:

RCA Nashville has pencilled in a Jimmy Buffett title, License to Chill, in digipak form and scheduled for July 13.

RCA Nashville?!?!?! WTF?

This is one album I won't be buying if he's gone back to a major label for distribution.

Screw the RIAA.

Jimmy, how could you???? This has to be a typo. It doesn't make any sense for him to go back to a major label - even for distribution.

Did I miss something along the way?
