If you read Pirate Looks at 50 there is a chapter that tells about Jimmy's trip to KW with Jerry Jeff "Walker" and his girlfriend "Murphy" and I'd say the Willis in Migration is Willis Allen Ramsey, a Texas troubador.

My pleasure but I think it's spelled Murphey. I think he had a big AM hit in the 70's called "Wildfire" or somesuch.

Giovonio, I.m guessin here, is better known as "Don". :-)

Michael Martin Murphy I love that guy some great songs:
cowboy logic
Wildfire
Still taking chances
Carolina in my mind
long line of love
Cowboy Christmas Ball

Some more great
but one I can see bubba doing
"Still taking chances taking candy from strangers
speeding up on curves ignoring the dangers."
sound like anyone you know??

I'm a fan and remember when he just went by "Michael Murphy" until some suits urged him to add "Martin" for legal reasons because there was an actor during that same time period who had the same name.

I was never a huge fan of "Wildfire" though it was inescapable the year it came out. I'm not as familar with his newer cowboy oriented stuff but what I've heard, I've liked. For his early work I recommend both the Geronimo's Cadillac and Cosmic Cowboy albums but l'm sure there's more great stuff where that came from.

By the way, Michael's song was actually "Carolina in the Pines" but I see where they could be so easily confused as I've done it a time or ten thousand my own self.
