Cut Jimmy some slack

I've seen a lot of whining about the CD and book release dates and the concert schedule. Let's all remember that last year he lost both of his parents. Anyone that's lost a parent knows that's not just three days of grieving and then you go on. It's probably a little more complicated in his case. Bubba cancelled and then rescheduled concerts. Everything probably got a bit behind schedule. I'm just happy that he's still making music.

Good point.
I am also glad he is still making music. I dread the day when that no longer happens. :-?

Thanks for that poigniant reminder. I know when the day comes when I lose MY parents, I sure won't feel like listening to music or dancing for a LONG time.

Thanks for EVERYTHING you do for us, Jimmy.

Good points! I will never be agrivated with anything Buffett does. He has done enough by giving me such great music and some the best shows/experiences of my life. Anything else he does is just a bonus at this point.

Totally agree. I wish the CD were coming out tommorrow, but I think that I can find another Buffett CD around here somewhere to listen to until then!!

And if your lucky enough to go to a concert or have been to a concert, take note on ALL that goes on. Even though he may have a SENIOR moment, there is a lot of practict and rehersal that goes on. And the rodies the have to set up and tear down are VERY busy.

Jimmy will keep going as long he is still having fun. It's up to us to make sure he's having fun for at least another 20 years!

His volume of work speaks for itself and yes, I too can find plenty of great cds to listen to while I wait to hear his latest. Although Jimmy may have only received one "official" award for his music (for reasons I'll never understand), I gladly give him my personal Artist of the Year Award annually through my continued financial support (cds, concert tickets, books, margaritaville tequilla & shrimp, merchandise, etc.), which I am more than happy to do to show my appreciation for everything he does.

Jimmy, thanks for sharing so much with us, you have 5 lifelong phans in my house (including 3 very loyal keets which we've added to the phlock).

When my dad died I turned to Jimmy's music and BN Parrotheads really helped me get through that time. It ain't easy I will tell you, ya don't know how hard it is going to be until the day comes and its one rough road.

((((((((((((((((Jimmy)))))))))))))))))

Jimmy's had a rough year... :( I know I wouldn't be able to be creative if I were grieving the loss of my parents. I'm just glad he's still out there making music.

Thanks, Jimmy!

Great Point! I am just glad there is still a Jimmy Buffett in the world. The day Johnny Cash died, I felt that the world lost one of its finest treasures. Even though Johnny was no longer able to tour, it was just comforting to know that he was out there somewhere. The same goes for Jimmy. You will never here me once complain about his career choices or the release dates of his albums or books. We are all fortunate that Jimmy is still able to do what he does. Thanks for everything Jimmy!!

The man is busy and has alot on his plate and many irons in the fire right now. If given a choice between a delayed cd and a delay in the tour...I'll take the cd delay any day of the week. My memories from Tuesday night will carry me through until the cd is released, and then some!! Course, that doesn't do much for the folks who have a long wait to see him. Just another perk of living on the coast of Carolina, I guess.

Well said by everyone! :D I still have both of my parents, so I can not imagine the feeling of loss that comes over a person at a time like that  But I do know that it would be very hard for me to just keep on keepin' on. There would definitely be some time needed to try and get things back in working order. Take all the time you want Jimmy! We will all be here supporting you whenever the new album, book, Mini Matinee II  , etc... comes out. :D Thanks for all the great times you have brought to us so far...and all the ones still ahead of us! :D :pirate: :D

Yeah, every time I have griped because Jimmy's not coming to Nashville this year (yet!), I have a guilty feeling as I'm typing, because I know Jimmy's 2003 was devastating. Either next year will be back to "normal" or he may be re-examing his family life versus the demands we fans put on him, and change the way he does concerts. I don't know how he does all he does without going bonkers.

Couldn't have said it better!
