No big deal..you don't wanna see Jimmy in Fenway..see him some other place. I was hoping for GW as a road trip but hey, I can wait for next year

and besides....San Jose lost their show, Irvine lost theirs as did San Diego. Now California has one show on a Thursday if losing all these shows was not bad enough. All perspective aint it?

SO.. if you cannot spend $400 on scalper tickets and $8.50 a beer inside (I am not exagerating).. you can forget about this year's Buffett experience.
Jones Beach..Here we come..
I'm amazed that people can post on a topic that they are so clueless about.

There is no need for so much negativity... as many other people have correctly said, if you don't like the Fenway shows then don't go.
For me personally this is a dream come true, my two favorite hobbies in the world are listenin' to Buffett and watching the Red Sox and this concert will in some way combine those two loves that I have and it will be one of the most memorable events of my life and also for many other.

How do you know that for sure? As John Lennon said, "Give Fenway a chance!"

comments like that make me consider buying a sh*tload of tickets and throwing them away

.some "real parrotheads" DONT want to drive that far for a show or see him at a sh*thole baseball park.it doesnt make them any less of a parrothead

I'm with you tommcat, there is no use for negative people like that around here

, a Parrothead is a Parrothead weather he or she wants to or can or can not drive 500 miles to see Jimmy. Some people have real jobs in the real world. Hope to see you at Fenway tommcat.

I agree that negativity should not take place on this board....but I have not posted a word bitching about venues, prices, or anything else.
Bottom line is that we should be happy that we have the opportunity to see Jimmy tour every year and get rewarded with new albums on a regular basis as well.
I wish we had 2 Vegas shows again this year. I wish that Jimmy was playing Irvine this year. Hell, I wish he would do a solo acoustic show in my living room.
However, we don't control Jimmy's itinerary....its up to him and his mangement....I'm just happy that they are still scheduling tours and allowing us to see him at all.
Whatever it takes to make touring more enjoyable for Jimmy....I'm all for as this will extend the number of years he tours. I'd much rather have 7 or 8 more years with him doing things his way...than to have him retire after 1 or 2 more years of doing things exactly as they've been.
Finally, if I had my choice of going to any show on this years tour....Fenway would be my pick. I'm sure Jimmy is looking forward to playing this venue more than any other site he has played in quite some time. I'd be quite surprised if this show isn't a "keeper" that everyone is going to want a recording of.....I'm actually jealous of all you east coast people within driving distance of this site. Any parrothead in the northeast who misses this show will truly regret it in the future.

I think the confussion is when the permit was issued for the 2 shows they said all alcohol sales would be stopped once the concert begins outside of Fenway. They were refeering to alcohol sales on the closed section of Yawkee Way which is used as part of Fenway during games. The bars and clubs around Fenway will be very much open.
I can't wait for September 10th and 12th!!!!

Hey, found an interesting quote in an article on the today show page.
"They're the paying customer. They're allowing me to have this lifestyle." Buffett says about his fans.
Hmmmm........

I'm not very psyched about this venue and all of the rules that will be happening around it, but because my wife and I enjoy the live Buffett experience. I understand and respect Jimmy's desire to play Fenway. But I also respect the neighborhood people and their concerns. Because of these concerns, the Boston regulatory groups have turned this into a very sterile event which may or may not be a bad thing for the fans. I'm not sure how the Springsteen thing went last year.
I myself have been to the park many times and have to say, the experience, when watching a ball game is o.k., that is it, o.k. For a tall person like myself it is not the most comfortable seating around, but I will deal with it. I'm also, not exactly sure how they will deal with the field, seats, open seating, etc.
As far as the partying goes. There will be places that people will find to party, before the show. That's just the way it will be, even if it's not in the Fenway neighborhood, but somwhere else in the back bay area.
I guess I'm happy that there will be a show, but am not happy about the ticket prices. But all of this won't matter in the end if I don't get tickets.

I DONT KNOW WHERE SOME OF YOU GET THIS IDEA THAT HE'S DOING US A BIG FAVOR BY TOURING AND WE SHOULD JUST BE HAPPY WITH WHATEVER HE WANTS TO DO.

HE IS A BUSINESS AND WE ARE THE PAYING CUSTOMERS.HE IS RICH BECAUSE OF HIS FANS,HE SHOULD BE THANKFUL PEOPLE COME TO SEE HIM AND BUY HIS STUFF SO HE CAN LIVE HIS LIFESTYLE.WE DONT OWE HIM ANYTHING

"They don't do the shows,
but they act like the stars.
They fly around in G4's
and s*** on big cigars.
It aint about the talent...
it aint' about the skill...
it's all about the silly, stupid
horse-s*** deal!"
-"Overkill", J. Buffett
I think Jimmy's management company has turned into the people HE
used to HATE!!!
PS: All you people who don't like controversy or 'negative' posts are
idolizing the WRONG trubador!! Jimmy has always been the FIRST
person to say EXACTLY what he thinks!!!! (Guess that's another reason
I've LIKED him for so many years....) Tired of 'explaining it for the 20th time?
You're REALLY gonna be tired after the 20 THOUSANDTH time!!

We are the customer... so if you don't like the idea of Fenway, don't go.
He's not obligated to play wherever and whenever we want and we're likewise not obligated to go see him wherever he shows up.
Make your own decision.

I just can't believe a change of venue is enough for so many people to turn on Jimmy. And I can't believe so many people are taking it so personally. For some reason they're all predispositioned to b**** about it... 1st complaining about no decision, and then complaining about the decision.
All I know is playing Fenway must have been important to Jimmy, because it's announced on the home page of Margaritaville.com. All of the squeeky wheels must be disappointing to him. Hopefully the legions of fans that will support his decision, and even embrace it for how special it could be, will out-weigh all of the negativity. Otherwise, Jimmy may choose to end the Labor Day tradition all together.
