He does that every so often, but it helps when we try to keep things down to one thread per topic.

True, but even if there are thousands of unhappy campers, he'll fill Fenway 2 nights with people who are willing to give it a chance, who are open to change, and who will have a great time!

OH brother!!! Gimme a BREAK!! Deleting threads is a "ONE CLICK" operation with this software...(I use it too!!) From the management page you click on the "Delete Thread" icon!!

He maintains this site because he LIKES to...if he didn't ...he wouldn't!! (WONT!) Big deal!

what's funny is that the media only reports from those unhappy people in the neigborhood and the general view from outside the immediate area is that most people don't want this show to happen... this is just not true, trust me when I say there are plenty of people in the neigborhoods around Fenway that can't wait for the party to begin :D

the owner of this site Jim has a job just like all of us. He dosn't have the time to sit here every day and delete old threads. Old threads are deleted from this site. If you notice you rarely ever see him post because he's always working on this site when he has the free time.

I've seen it to where for the last 2 weeks of the month you couldn't post or even look at this site because of the bandwith issues.

I am bothered by the idea that the GW fans' dissappointment is thought to be unjustified, or that other people's right to be dissappointed is more just than we are, or that we are ungrateful. I think this attitude leads the GW fans on the defensive and this is why the topic stays alive instead of moving past this.

To me, GW is a not just a party, it is an annual event like no other that I look forward to and plan for all year. I request my vacation time around it a year ahead of time. I see friends that I only see once a year at the show. Friends from out of state fly in to attend with us. Because of the logistics, price and dates of Fenway, this will not happen. I am dissappointed that all of this will not happen this year, period. And I don't think there is anything wrong with that.

Am I glad he's still playing in the area, yes. Will I try to get tickets, yes. Will I pay more money because I understand the impotance of Fenway, yes. Am I greatful that he still continues to play at all, yes. Am I dissapointed GW won't happen this year, yes. Aside from the multiple threads argument which I agree is excessive...Why do others feel the need to berate us for this?

The fact is that moving the show from GW to Fenway brought about many changes. As we all know change can be difficult especially for those that can not go this year because of those changes. Why can't we support each other like tikibar and say.. I sympathize... validate each others opinion and move on.
I have been watching too much DR Phil...

he has a job. He shouldn't have to sit in front of his computer all day to babysit people who don't care to follow his rules

Wow, this has become one crazy discussion. A few people have said it best regarding Jimmy Buffett being a performer first and foremost. I'm sorry to bring the bad news but, regardless of people thinking he is doing this for the fans, that is most likely not the case. When ever I hear the song Overkill I can't help but laugh, because he and his employee's are exactly what that song is gripping about. Every year since I've seen him, the big lighted Corona signs have bee a staple of his stage. More and more near the venue entrance there seems to be advertising for stuff. This is not by accident. Everything happens for the sole purpose of making money and Jimmy knows it. If this weren't the case, he'd be playing free shows. No, I don't mean in one of his own restaurants or on the Today show (album promotion).

Why do you think he only hits the area's with the huge number of fans? He's hoping for the sell out every time. And no, there's nothing wrong with this, I would probably do the same thing. I read somewhere that Jimmy is the "fan's musician" This couldn't be furthest from the truth. If he were such a person, he would be playing the small venues in obsure locations, to pacify the small groups of fans, even if it meant only filling half of a 6,000 seat theater.

With all of this said, I don't have a problem with any of it. This is what he does for a living and he happens to have great advice regarding how to sell himself outside of his music, etc. and he's making a crap load of money doing it. It's my choice to continue to support Jimmy Buffet and I do so, because I enjoy him. It is my choice to not be happy with the Fenway deal, but I will try to get tickets and enjoy the show if I can because I enjoy him. The party will happen, I'm not worried about that aspect. It may not be as great as GW, but it will happen somwhere.

What still angers me is ticket policies and we all know this will never change.

I guess all I'm saying is, I'm glad we have these forums so everyone can express thier feelings. Reading all of the posts on this issue has been intersting to say the least.

Because bandwidth isn't a function of storage... it's a function of data being transferred from the BN server to users.

In short, the more people requesting different threads from the site, the more bandwidth is being used and the more strain is being put on the server to handle and process those requests. When many of those requests are for the same topic in different threads, it forces the server to do extra work to individually query each of those threads rather than just one. Too many requests and the server freezes.

WELL said, icarus!!! I quoted "Overkill" in the beginning of this thread!! Amazing how his management company has turned into the same kind of people HE hated so much earlier in HIS career!!

Ironic, aint it?

Your cluelessness astounds me. But then perhaps if you had been here a while or knew PHJim or know what he's gone through with this site you might not post about what you don't know.

Thankfully IP blocking is pretty easy too. Let's hope he uses his discretion.

Yeah... its just the server getting hammered. Kinda like the "all circuits are busy" you get when TM sells JB tix and Britney tix on the same day.

This whole topic brings up a very interesting subject, which they were actually talking about on the Mike & Mike Show on ESPN Radio this morning. Because fans pay what they do to see concerts and sporting events, do they, or should they, have a say in how things are handled?
Should fans be upset because they went to see Barry Bonds play and the other team walks him? Did they get their money's worth?
Should fans be able to tell a performer what songs to play and where to play because we pay for the tickets?

all we can do is not go. Still there are people who will go no matter so boycotts dont usually work.
