New Album On Phish's 'Mind'

Phish will release its 10th studio album, "Undermind," June 15 via Elektra. The initial pressing of the disc will boast a bonus DVD with the short film "Specimens of Beauty." Directed by noted photographer Danny Clinch, the 26-minute feature chronicles the making of the new album.

The 14-track "Undermind" was produced by Tchad Blake (Tom Waits, Pearl Jam, Suzanne Vega) and recorded at the band's Vermont-based studio, the Barn. First single "The Commotion" will be delivered May 24 to U.S. radio outlets for airplay consideration.

A number of the cuts have appeared occasionally in Phish's live sets, most recently "Crowd Control" and "Secret Smile," which were played April 15 in Las Vegas. The track "Grind," which dates back to sessions for the 1996 album "Billy Breathes," made its lone appearance during a Dec. 30, 1998, show in New York. "Scents and Subtle Sounds," "Army of One" and "Two Versions of Me" were all performed during the group's 2003 tour.

"Undermind" is the follow-up to 2002's "Round Room," which debuted at No. 46 on The Billboard 200. It was the quartet's first studio album following a two-year hiatus from recording and touring.

As previously reported, Phish will begin a summer tour June 17 in Brooklyn, N.Y. The group is also planning a multi-day festival in its home state of Vermont, with details to be announced shortly.
