So, what's the deal with tailgating here? It's in a NY State park and usually booze is not allowed in state parks (which is just wrong). Anyone have any insight??

Tailgating is fine so long as you keep your drink in a cup. The cops are reasonably cool. If you don't flaunt it they won't hassle you at all.
We will going full bore that day...Tents, food, music, bar, etc.

I've never had any problem tailgating for any show there. As a previous poster said, the cops are cool.

Wow...long time no post! How's everybody doing? :D

I'm pretty pumped about the Jones Beach show, despite the lack of booze inside the venue.

The tailgating scene was a full blown fiesta two summers ago. Hell, the folks across from us had a full bar with glass bottles and all. All the cops did was stop by abd say "hi." :P

We still kept ours a little less obvious...veterans of enough JB and GD shows to know to never get "too safe" in a lot.

Weird circumstances led the wife and me to miss any chance at any shows last summer...only the second year in the last ten that we went a year without a show. It was really hard after catching three or four the year before.

I'll be one happy camper if I can land some seats on Monday. 8)

This is from the TM website:
There is a six (6) ticket limit per person. There is a six (6) show limit per person.

So all you people who have already seen him 6 times, you are outta luck! Or, I wonder if that is 6 times this tour? I know some people who would still be outta luck!

[quote="skiboutins"]Since GW is still not a lock, my wife and I are planning to bring our son on a road trip to Jones Beach to experience the famous and oft discussed JB tailgating in person.

Any suggestions for hotels/motels/campgrounds in the JB area?

Else, anyone on LI have a large backyard?

Thanks for any help.
This is the best hotel I can think of that is close to jones beach. You may be able to find some others like best western and holiday inn. I will look around and get back to you.

I got right in, got 4 together at the top of the venue, then pulled a pair together in 3L, but threw them back, this is getting expensive.........by 9:06, my last computer running couldn't get 2 together anymore.

I'll be in the cheap seats this time, but no complaints!

I got 2! Man they sure did go fast. No pairs left by 9:07 and singles gone by 10 after.
