Why such distaste for GW?

I smell so much jealousy when it comes to GW.

Just because Jimmy wants to end each summer on a high note,
and tends to hang out for multiple shows....is that our fault?

Instead of wasting energy, instead join us in our prayers
for a GW show, and if the Tiki Gods allow it, come and join us
for a tailgating party you won't soon forget.

GW Rules. :pirate:

I wouldn't call it jealousy so much as being tired of hearing a bunch of whining about not getting a GW show when there's a show in your area anyway. There's 50 states and each state is deserving to have a show but Jimmy can't do 50 shows either. As I have stated numerous times be appreciative of what you have and quit biatching about something that is different - be happy Jimmy is coming to your state.

More like GW nausea - a sickness in the stomach resulting from the constant whiny crybaby bull$hit we've had to endure over the past few months.

i could be wrong but i feel that jimmy caters to the areas that he knows he is gonna sell out, california, florida, northeast, these areas are constantly selling out shows, primarily becuase they are more suited to liking jimmys music, close to the ocean, sunny warm, good sailing, i jsut dont know if he could sell out a show in a state like north dakota or idaho, like i first said i very well could be wrong and i dont want this post to be taken the wrong way its just that if he knows he can sell out 4 shows in the boston area why wouldnt he do it? And not to take anythign away from hardcore buffett fans in other states but becuase of its small size and population density i believe that new england deserves more shows because of the large amount of people who do want to see jimmy. comments? criticisms? i dont mean for this to be a blanket statement i would like to know if anyone disagrees

Because at this point in his life - mid 50's and with a giant pile of money in the bank - the sacrifices that come with being on the road don't outweigh the cost to his family life.

Even as nice as he's got it on the road, it's still the circus life. I think he plays enough to still enjoy himself but not so much that it becomes tedious.

Chicago?? Alpine??? Cleveland?? Dallas??? All sell outs and not near an ocean

He always sells out shows in Texas in under 15-20 minutes per show. Based on your statement then Texas Deserves at least 8 shows - 2 for Dallas, Houston, Austin and San Antonio!!! For your information, New England dosn't hold the concession on Buffett fans.

I do. The places you mention you don't think would sell out a show are just as deserving as any. A show in Washington draws fans from Alaska, Canada, Oregon, Idaho, Northern California.

A Show In Oregon does likewise. I see no problem with Idaho, Montana, or anywhere else for that matter. Jimmy sells out where ever he plays.

Call me crazy, but wasn't this thread simply asking for new info since there is still very much a possibility of a show at great woods. The only whining/be-aching I have read is coming from those who are sick of hearing about it...okay, I take that back after reading what has been posted while I am typing this.
But I still have to say that....
I have to assume that until it is a done deal, you are going to keep hearing about it. Not because we are whining, but because we have heard there is still a chance it still may happen and we want to know what the latest info is. There is no need to be rude to polite inquiries for information even if it is a subject you are sick of hearing about. There is still more news to come and I am willing to bet I will be hearing about it first on BN.

couldn't one of the numerous threads have been kept alive and achieved the same goal?? How polite is it for someone to say their area is more deserving of multiple shows than anyone??

I'm sure you will hear any news first here on BN but I swear I don't see multiple threads from other areas and the reason for that is once they received a concert within their reach they were happy with what they got. What they got was better than nothing!!

Is it safe to say that a true measure of Bubba's popularity in a certain region is best measured not by if the show is a sell-out (all shows sell-out) but by how much people are willing to pay to get in the door. I'm on ebay a lot and for the most part tickets can be had for AV, Cuyahoga, Tinley, Chicago, Riverbend for a shade over face value. On the other hand, year after year GW fans continually shell out $250 or more for a pair of lawn seats just to get in the door.

So, what's my point? My point is that Jimmy is fully aware of where his most rabid and loyal fans are and will hopefully reward us with another show. In the early '90's he was playing four shows a year at GW and it was still the toughest ticket of the season.

This isn't to say that fans in other venues don't deserve to see him play in their hopetown, it's just to say that support for JB in New England has been tremendous over the years and he recognizes that and schedules accordingly. Just one Parrothead's opinion.

Now, bring on that GW date!
