self tanners

Post by Ceol na Mara »

ok, what's your favorite self tanner. i just used banana boat after reading rave reviews, and it looked so unnatural, came off on clothes, towels, etc. uneven. and that smell. most of the self tanners have that same disgusting smell.

so does anyone use a self tanner that's natural looking, even, and not such a horrible smell. inquiring minds and pale bodies want to know.

please excuse my all lower case - my computer is having a problem with upper case, exclamation points, parentheses, etc. probably the result of the cat sitting on the keyboard. when i put the cursor on something it goes wild.

I use the Neutrogena foam and I love it! It works great... but you have to make sure it is totally dry (over a 1/2 hour) before you can be sure it won't rub off on clothes. Of course, I still fake bake too so I don't know what it looks like on totally pale skin...I'm semi-pale most of the time...

I would love to a try a good self tanner. I use the tanning bed now, but I don't want to continue using it much longer. I've heard horror stories about people looking 50 when their only 30.

I really do have a job...but...

I'll post this on the "Mommy" board that I also post on. Those gals know everything. I'm getting married in a week too and you have to wear sunglasses to look at my bare legs.

I have used the neutrogena foam too. The nice thing is that it has a bronzer so you can see where you have applied it, less chance of splotches/missing spots that way.

I'm pretty pale, so if I put a self tanner on without a natural base tan I look terrible. I would highly recommend Bain de Soleil Mega Tan - it's a self-tanner with SPF 4. It's meant to be worn in the sun and the self tanner activates in the sun. Once I have just a bit of a base tan, that keeps me tan all summer.

Ok. Response from the Mommy board is the Clinique self-tanner. You have to buy it at a department store where they sell Clinique products but it costs the same as the other store tanners.

All of my make-up is Clinque so I definitely will try their self tanner. Maybe it will accompany my make-up nicely and won't turn me into a walking acne commercial. :-?

Does anyone remember QT?? My mom used to use it and she would be orange and blothcy.

I used to just go outside with baby oil and lay on those foil blankets.

Now, I don't go out without sunscreen. I'm a SPF 10 Carrot Tanning fan from Hawaiian Tropic. Although this time of year it is 15+ here in Arizona.

Good luck Buffettbride!

Ditto Tommcat. I've never had a problem with the sun and you can do it by yourself if you want.
