It would also help that before accusing someone of using up bandwidth if they bothered to do a little research into the matter beforehand.

some of us are just repeating what we've been told by the site owner and the moderators.

I'm not aiming this at you Jah... just explaining in the larger context here...

Duplicate threads or threads deemed irrelevent by PHJim do have implications, just not usually bandwidth ones. They needlessly add to the strain on the database server that handles this board and they take up storage space on that database. They do have some impact on bandwidth - clearly if you click on 20 Fenway threads instead of just one, that's going to use bandwidth up that didn't need to be used.

So when PHJim says no duplicate threads, it's not just to be mean.

I'm referring to the people that jumped all over me for posting news articles. On every other music message board I frequent (and music listservs) everybody contributes articles, only here has it ever been an issue. Now that it's known that it's not a bandwidth issue, I was just clarifying that matter.

Whether you're on an internet discussion board or a "real life" situation, why use more space than is needed?

what they were asking is if you could maybe post them in one thread so it would be easier for them to navigate thru the off topic area. The first person that asked you this did so in a nice way in fact.

With all respect to PH4ever and all, I think what is being asked is that ONLY links be posted instead of a link AND the entire article, at least if this type of information is going to be posted on a frequent basis.

I think instead, I will begin frequenting music boards where all of us are allowed to post articles and the roost isn't ruled by just a few, everyone has a voice.

your right and I stand corrected. I believe it was asked that a brief recap of the article and the link be posted - which I believe is the correct way because of the copyright laws

DUDE?? What is your problem??? People asked you to do something nice and you took offense to it and you continue to take offense to it. People are asking you to do something to HELP them and not to run you off. Your attitude is what is making people want you to leave. Several of us find some of your articles quite interesting but it would be helpful to several of us if you had just one post for us to go thru for convience in getting to your post as well as others. Did you even realize that in many cases you are simply breaking copyright laws by copying and pasteing the article??? You didn't even try their suggestions to see if it was something that could work for you - you just said to hell with you

One more time: everyone on this site has a voice. Since it is a very large place, some organization is needed. PHJim is the Big Boss, and moderators are here to make sure that things go the way HE wants them to. This is not a case of the roost being ruled by a few. Think of it as a corporation. PHJim is the President and CEO, and moderators are sort of like Magagers. EVERYONE is a shareholder. Okay, a loose analogy at best, but hey, I'm in the business world so it's the best I could do. Nobody but Jim rules this roost.
