POSITIVITY!

My positive is I have not had a cigarette in 9 days. For me this is a HUGE achievement, especially since today has been just strung out, crazy, and almost unmanageable--and I handled the stress without smoking. (I may get fired for over-using the Internet) but I couldn't do it without everyone on BN and BW.

I for one have to tell you that you are doing awesome....9 days....I envy you......I promised the keets after the weekend that i'd give it a shot....so keep up the good work, and maybe by next week, you can help me through the dt's

I twisted my knee surfing today...I have an horribly awful completely red sunburn.....I am out of beer....and there is nothing on TV unless you like Tennis.

What a beautifula day it was....filled with fluffy clouds and hurricanes on the horizon.

Positive enough

7. We have three b eautiful children between us
6. We both have jobs
5. We move into our house in 2 weeks - first home ever for me!!!
4. we are both healthy
3. Corona is on sale thisweek at Publix
2. Jimmy B uffett still tours
and the numb er one reason to be positive........

Have y'all tried the patch?? I did & haven't smoked since 9/9/99. The patches, along with supportive family & friends, really helped me get through it. Good luck!

I tried the patch....No more pills for me....one patch and im worry free from pregnancy.....oh wait a minute wrong patch....wrong sex too....nevermind

I left home today with the intention of working out BUT got hijacked to the county fair where we were gonna see a favorite local blues band BUT upon arriving we found out that they had cancelled BUT there was another awesome blues band playing AND the local Lions Club (most of whom are my friends) were pouring Wild Turkey into my cokes.

I haven't had Wild Turkey since college homecoming days . . . .

Then I come here and find this thread which sorta drove me up the wall at first since there has been so much crap around everywhere lately and I guess if you get to close to it some of it will rub off on you and you start to stink also BUT I ran across BuffetBride and BuffetGrooms post and that made me smile.

1-I just came home from two FANTASTIC Jimmy Buffett concerts in Chicago.

2-At the Saturday concert my seat was SO close I could look up Tina Gullickson's skirt.

3-On Friday night between the concerts, I got to have a few drinks with Amy, T.C., and Doyle at the Key Wester in Naperville, where they jammed with a teriffic house band-THE BOAT DRUNKS.

4-Just before the Saturday concert, I went into the Cheeseburger In Paradise beer tent, where Johnny Russell and the Beach Bum band played, and ALL of the Coral Reefers AND CHARLESTON made an appearance. (ALL are teriffic people).

5-I'm going to Florida in early November.

6-I'm going to Nashville in mid November.

7-I'm going to HAWAII in February.

8-I have a beautiful and loving wife (who puts up with me after all these years).

9-I have a beautiful home.

10-I have a job I love.

11-I have two VERY lovely and loving dogs.

12-I am healthy.

13-I live in the United States.

14-I have two parents in their late 70's who are in excellent health, and two of the greatest people on the planet.

15-I LOVE the person I see in the mirror every day.

SHOULD I GO ON?

And I KNOW what you mean about too much caffine. I drink so much coffee, I'm told Juan Valdez has named his donkey after me.

YOU CAN DO IT. I've been quit for 1 year and 5 months now. Stopped cold turkey. I started when I was 16 and stopped 12 years later, March 22, 2003

You know what? This thread is great, because it made me sit here and think up things that are going good in my life. Wow. Today it's: I feel healthy, my son and daughter-in-law are coming this weekend for a visit, my dog and cat are in happy/frisky mode, and tomorrow's FRIDAY!!!

Congratulations Mal!! That's huge. My dad smoked for years and years until his doctor put the fear of God (or heart attack, less metaphorically) in him. He said it was the hardest thing he's ever had to do, but it was worth it. But one of his incentives was that he put the money he would've spent on smokes in an account, and that was our family vacation money. I think that was the year we bought a camper.

Thanks PG. Hubby and I have tried and tried and tried some more. I'm pretty much addicted to anything I can get my hands on (including this keyboard!!!). I've been using the patch and it has worked wonders. Hubby is VERY brave and went cold turkey. That's probably the best way, but regardless...still no smokes.

I wish you the best in quitting. It's the most horrible thing to do yet, there is light at the end of the tunnel. (Hey, it's getting a little TOO bright).

Thanks GC...I have been using the patch and have a VERY supportive hubby.
