After seeing the thread from a couple of days ago I deleted my number from my entries in the ticket exchange forum. If you get any info on the clown, there are a couple of lawyers here that can probably give some advice.
I'm way more interested in talking to the law enforcement officers on the board......
You could always just get someone to track the loser down and break his knees....
12lb. I contacted the postal authorities for you and I was told that as long as the money was sent within the U.S. it would come under their jurisdiction. The kicker is, as I stated earlier is that the actual offense would occur when the money is taken possession of. That is if you lived in Illinois and Wester Unioned money to Nevada the actual occurrence would occur in Nevada. I was advised that you could contact the postal authorities in the state that you are located in.
i appreciate all the help and support. hopefully we'll get this guy caught. i've filed reports with the FBI, Western Union, and my local police. monday ill file with florida's economical crimes division and the louisiana attorney general.
again, thanks you guys. it means a lot.
for me, he went by the name of brian goodman. his "address" was
2 ocean place
miami, florida
the number that showed up on my caller ID was (305) 474-4744
I was also contacted by this jerk. Does anybody remember a couple years back when a bunch of people got taken by this scam. This time he offered to send the tix COD. But everything else sounded identical. I didn't think COD offered much protection as I wouldn't know if the tix were legit til I opened the envelope and looked them over. Even then I might not be able to tell a fake. Unfortunately it will hurt folks who are legitimately selling tix. If you are buying from somebody you don't know and it's thru these boards ask on here if people know them. If they do, you should be ok.
Perhaps a sting could be suggested to the authorities? If he's calling phone numbers, the best way to catch him would be to let him call that phone number and try and rip off The Man...
12lb, I think the guy that called me said his name was Brian Goodman, and that he worked for Buffett. He said he had tickets to the show I wanted with backstage passes, so I asked him "which show?" He paused for a minute and said, "oh, the one on the 22nd." I knew then that this guy was a joker, I don't think he even knew the city or venue. He called me collect early on a Saturday morning, and sounded to me like he had a northern accent.

Obviously this guy is still at it. There is a new post on the Announcement page dated today.
I just had a fiendishly wonderful idea. Does anyone have an autodialer on an unlisted number? Set it to call this guy once every minute or so! Preferrably someone in the Miami area so you won't get charged for a long distance call every time he hangs up. If there was some way to play parrots squawking, it should fill his answering machine when he's out. That would demonstrate to him that parrotheads stick together.
There's no way this guy would try to get the police involved.
His numbers can be found in the Announcement posting.
