That kinda crap is why Ticketbastard is trying to get all the artists to go along with auctions for tickets... They see other people making huge amounts of money on some tics, and they think 'why don't we get in on this'... It's only going to get worse.... As long as people put up with it... And then there are deep pocket corporate people who could care less about which artist they are going to see as long as it gets them a sale to a customer, or gets them the right connection... IMHO...

THERE IS NO SOLUTION! No matter how tickets are originally distributed the money grubbers will somehow get their hands on them. They will exist as long as there are people will to pay more.

little guy is gonna get it in the shorts no matter on ticket buying. Solution, I really cannot think of one but to accept it for what it is.

or places like this where pholks watch out for other pholks who may have gotten skunked. Going up against the big money players is not gonna work.

As others have said, there isn't a solution, but that doesn't mean I can't be mad as h*ll and not wanting to take it any more... :-? Just let me b*tch, so I don't go postal on somebody...

THERE IS A SOLUTION! MAIL ORDER TICKETS!

Sorry for yelling, but the Grateful Dead (now just The Dead), Phish and I think Dave Mathews do this and it works very well. To this day, I can't believe that no one (especially Steve H. on RM) has ever asked JB about this possibility or why JB won't do it.

I've now decided that I am going to boycott this years' tour and save my money so I can see one or two of the charity shows that he will hopefully play again.

Even with mail order, if a scalper (sorry... broker) sends in 500 requests, wouldn't he be more likely to get the best seats? Just wondering... Plus all the venues have sweetheart deals that you can't get around that are going to take a certain number of tics... I'm not saying it wouldn't help a lot, but when someone can buy a ticket for $80 and turn around and sell it for $400 to $500, an awful lot of people need the cash...

and some are just greedy...

Does anyone else find it strange that all of those sites listed seem to be selling the same tickets, just at different prices?

if the venues and artists were smart they would just auction all the tickets off, it wouldnt be any better for the consumer but on the business side for the artist it would be much more profitable, then you would see jimmy getting the 1200 for a front row seat instead of the 80

There is a solution. People need to stop patronizing these clowns. Easier said than done, especially when there are 40,000 people trying to get to a show that has seating for 20,000. As long as people pony up the dough, these unscrupulous tools will continue to take all of the good seats and the little guy takes it in the shorts.

Perhaps the time is right for revolution, albeit civilly.

I'm not sure exactly how they work, but I know that DMB doesn't do mail order persay, but rather presales to members of their fan club. Works out rather well. The longer you have been a member, the more priority in the drawing you get. And if you don't get tix that way, then there is always the general sale later.

The problem with those is, people always complain how they have been in the club since the begining and that they didn't get tickets while the newbies did. However, I do think that thoise complaints are minimal compared to the bitching when no fans get tickets.

The pre sales do greatly cut down on brokers. To begin with, they need a credit card to pre order. So unless the broker has like 500 different credit cards, they can only order once. Even if they do have lots of different data, the pre sales usually limit to two tix per show, with a limit on the number of shows. This reduces the number of broker tickets from 8 per, to only 2 per. But the main kicker that helps to keep away brokers is the 50 dollar membership fee. Yeah, most fan clubs charge about the same cost as a ticket to join. I can't see many brokers shelling out 50 to buy two tix that they aren't even gonna get.

I am a little surprised that Jimmy hasn't dont something similar. Most fan clubs, IMHO, are greatly over priced for what "gifts" they provide, so you pretty much pay for the pre sale. He could make a bunch of profit. Esp when he can still charge fees like Ticket Bastard, but pocket them himself. (Don't get me wrong, I love the guy but he knows how to make a buck)
