Do local fan clubs have special access to tickets?

I was just told in another thread that local fan club members have better access to concert tickets. TRUE? If so, I think local clubs would lte it be known as a way of increasing membership & participation in club activities. I guess I'll have to look up my local club and check it out.

Parrothead clubs do get blocks of tickets for local shows. Before you go signing up for one of the clubs they usually have a points system for people who volunteer for various activities during the year. The more stuff you do with the club, the more points you get. The more points you get the greater the chance of you gettting tickets when Bubba comes to town.

Yes, they do, but they require participation in a certain number of community service events, which varies from club to club. It's definitely worth it, but you don't automatically get tickets. The events are established by the club, and it usually isn't hard to get enough points for tickets.

Our club does a points system for tickets. We don't advertise it because there is no guarantee that anyone will get tickets even if they do the community work and get points. There is a limited amount of tickets available to clubs and they have to be shared between all the clubs! We've experienced people getting mad becasue they "joined the club to get tickets" and then didn't get any. There's lots of PHIP rules on top of individual club rules to get through before you get tickets. I'd say that's why most clubs don't advertise it.

They are also usually NOT the greatest of seats........the Colorado club actually turned down the group seats this year as last years were so horrible and we found out they were located in the same section. The committee within PHIP NEEDS to look into this. I understand and agree that joining a club does not automatically guarantee you tickets to a concert, but when you ask to have tickets that are better and are willing to pay for them and are told you will get them, you should get them. *** stepping off my soap box now ***

They cannot use it as a way to recruit members.
They are not to advertise it as a benefit of being in a club.

The tickets are limited and as others have said - not everyone in a club will get a ticket and most are on a points system.

So to join a club just to get tickets - would not work. Tickets are not guaranteed.

Like Creeky said, it is against PHiP guidlines to advertise getting tickets as a benefit of club membership.
Maybe JB could change it up and do something similar to Alan Jackson (and others)?

Click on fan club, they have access to special seats.

Then a JB show will sell out only to fan club members and the 10,000 scalpers that join up for the fan clubs.

We've been kicking around solutions to the problem here http://www.buffettnews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=23970
Not that we're really getting anywhere, but we feel better afterward.
