Ok as we all know Jimmy has been doing more and more covers every year now.
Few years ago on the west coast, he was doing Uncle Johns Band ( in rememberence of Jerry Garcia)
He has done Brown Eyed Girl and Southern Cross for quite a while now too.
On Occasion on a saturday night, he will roll out with Another Saturday Night for an Encore.
I know a few years back in Chicago he did sweet home chicago, and this past year in Seattle, he covered Jimi's Wind Crys Mary.
Which leads me to my next question, Buffett is coming to your hometown, and is gonna cover a well known artist from that area----who should he cover.
I was thinkin---since next week he is in Minnesota, Prince--is doing a farewell tour, and was thinkin----Jimmy could cover a few princes songs---more like Purple Rain. Few of my buddys said---he should do Darling Nicky, which would be great----but dont ever see that happening-----
so what songs do you wanna see Jimmy cover when he comes to your area by artists from that area.

If he ever came to Knoxville again there's only one song he should cover. It's hackneyed and trite, but it would get a *huge* response from Knoxvillians, no matter how tired they are of the song...
Rocky Top
There. I said it. I'm not proud.

Rupert Holmes "Escape" (The Pina Colada Song) for Boston. Half the world thinks it's Jimmy's song, anyhow.
"If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
If you're not into yoga, if you have half-a-brain.
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape.
You're the love that I've looked for, come with me, and escape."

Hmmmmm..Jimmy singing "Purple Rain." Sorry, but I can't imagine THAT. And "Darling Nikki?" YIKES! But I see your train of thought though. Let's see. When he's in Virginia he could do a cover of any Ralph Stanley or Bill Monroe song. That would pay homage to my state being pretty much the origin of bluegrass music. We know Jimmy likes bluegrass, and it would make Doyle pretty happy too I bet!

You know, some of us here in Kentucky and Tennessee would argue that with you.

Hey, I said "pretty much"....that's exactly what I had in mind, you silly goose.

Ralph Stanley is from Virginia, and he's definitely one of the originators.

For S.C., he could cover something by Hootie and the Blowfish....or Edwin McCain.
Or if he were coming to my hometown of Greenwood, S.C., he could cover "Double Shot of my Baby's Love" by Greenwood's own Swinging Medallions. (I seriously doubt he'd ever play Greenwood, though.....

I'd like to see him do an Aerosmith song. There are actually a lot of hometown Boston bands that he could cover...Let's just pray he stays away from New Kids On The Block!!!

Yikes!!!

When in Texas he would have any number of artists to cover, but I think it'd be neat to hear him cover some Fabulous Thunderbirds. "Tuff Enough" mayhap....I'd like to hear Jimmy get his voice into "blues" mode like Kim Wilson....hmmm...

He should sing Happy Trails..............Jimmy could Play the New Cincinnati "Great American Ball Park" It would be awesome and not a bad seat in the house. Roy Rogers is a Cincinnati Native, He was born in a house on the Riverfront. Roughly where the Ball Park is located,
or......
The Isley brothers were from the Blue Ash (North) area of Cincinnati.
So maybe he could do SHOUT!!

I've always enjoyed his cover of that song when he's played here as well. He doesn't do it every time but the few times he has it has been spine-tinglin' good.
