I have a deli two blocks from the ferry dock in bridgeport. I might open for anyone taking the ferry that morning if there is any interest. The coffee will be on me.

My friend who is from Long Island said that the ferry is well worth the money because they traffice will be terrible for labor day. Does anyone know how far away jones beach is from the orient point ferry?

Probably 80-85 miles.

That means at least a few hours with the traffic you're going to be in. Unless there is a REALLY early ferry I don't think this is going to be a good bet.
Please listen to me when I tell you to plan to get to Jones Beach by 8-9am at the latest! You are going to see traffic like you have never seen before in your life. Not from people going to the show, but from hundreds of thousands of people going to the beach.

You'll need to have a reservation for a holiday weekend trip. Unfortunately it's too early to book either ferry for September.

I will be there bright and early Friday morning I plan on leaving Boston after work around midnight Thursday. I ate in an unbelievable steak house in Mystic 2 years ago, is it still there, don't remember the name of it though. It was recomended by everybody we asked.

it would be a good bet coming from east of New London, except that the earliest ferry is 7:00AM, which is too late..... :-?

guess I'll just have to take Friday off. 8)

Are you staying at the Best Western? If you are, that's about 80 miles from the Orient Point ferry. If you're lucky you'll make it in 2 hours. Jones Beach is probably about 1/2 hour from the Best Western on a good day. On the Saturday of Labor Day weekend you can double that, at least.

They said they were the closest hotel to the theater, i think if i take an early ferry and get to my hotel by 1 or 2 i shouldnt have any problem getting to the lot by 4, how will traffic be leaving the show? Great Woods was always terrible

Traffic's bad leaving but on the bright side it only holds 14,000 so it shouldn't be as bad as other places.
