Sannibel or Navarre?

For those of you that have been to both, which did you like better? What do both have to offer?

Well, for one thing Navarre is a *heck* of a lot closer to Knoxville than Sanibel if you're gonna drive. Sanibel is a *long, long, long, long* drive. I'd be tempted to go to Navarre just because of that. Having lived 20 minutes from Sanibel and having made the drive from/to Knoxville several times I can honestly say it's a miserable experience and hope to never have to do it again.
Sanibel's beaches are covered, and I mean covered in shells. Navarre's not as much so. SW Florida is the pits of hell in the summer when it comes to heat. In the winter it's the pits of tourist hell. But Sanibel is a very pretty place with very friendly people and some great restaurants. Ding Darling Reserve is beautiful. The other nice thing is that Ft. Myers is just across the causeway and the Everglades are just down the road, so there is more than just beach stuff to do. Ft. Myers isn't as inundated with seasonal tourists as, say, Naples is, so it's more tolerable year-round.

I've never been to either, but will be going to Navarre in November, and I'm sure I'll love it, so for now IT gets my vote.

I'd stay away from Navarre, I hear some of the residents are pretty nasty!
