Let me say before posting this, I enjoy Kenny Chesney's music, new and old. That being said....
In a news release today from Nashville, it's been announced that Kenny Chesney is in the studio recording an all island flavored album to be released early next year.
If it's any good (which I expect it to be), I'll buy it. IMHO, the more "island flavored" music the better.
I love to listen to JB, but I also love to throw in a little Jim Morris, Bob Marley, JJW, etc. every now and then. If I can add a KC CD to that list, I won't complain.
My biggest fear is that when I die, my wife will sell all my Buffett stuff for what I said I paid for it!

I plan on picking it up. I really enjoyed the island flavor of "No Shirt No Shoes..." "All I Want for Christmas is a Real Good Tan," and "When the Sun Goes Down." IMO, I think these are all really solid albums.

Let the haters have at it
I didnt think he could get more "island flavored" but hey.. the more the merrier and
Pa Par8 Hed.. you need to check out Mark Mulligan
When they run you out of town make it look like you are leading the parade.
Hey, wait a minute...Wasn't Jimmy doing more of a country thing years ago? Remember Before the Beach??? Kenny was probably in diapers or perhaps not even born yet. So, let Jimmy be Jimmy and anyone who is inspired by him, WONDERFUL!!! We love cover songs JB does. I don't think Bob Marley minded No Woman no Cry. Some call it a free ticket if they copy others. Some call it admiration. None the less, Jimmy has made an impression on millions. Even us. Before I became a parrothead, I hated country. Now...s'okay.
"Mommy, when is Jimmy Buffett coming to OUR house? We go see him ALL THE TIME??" (Actual quote from my 5 y/o keet)
Yeah! I'm excited. No one could ever compare to Jimmy, but like some of you have said it's nice to have a variety if you ever get in the mood for something different (but not too different from JB).
And all across the harbour
Night lights shinin' in
It looks just like stars on the water
"Always keep the places you love in your heart and you will never be too far away."
Good-I love the song No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem. I think KC has a few good songs and will look forward to hearing his new cd. I wonder if he will have Jimmy Buffett on it to reciprocate. One can only hope.

Bring me the hot sauce, bring me a beer. Going to be the last man standing, but where do you go from here?

in his latest, When the Sun Goes Down, he does give Jimmy credit in the liner notes.....
Well...(said in my best Bubba voice) I've been on sabbatical.
like I said before... poor mans Buffett. Jimmy wrote Island flavored music because he lived that lifestyle, he wrote what he knew about. Chesney to me seems to be playing a character for profitibilty. Just my opinion though...

Actually, Jimmy first tried to go the country route, and failed. As far as I can see, Kenny has succeeded at both - more power to him.

Kenny has ALWAYS loved the beach...from a small child...he spends his spare time in the caribbean (usually Grand Cayman). I think that he is a "beach bum" just like those of us who post on this board.
I for 1 and THRILLED about the idea of a "tropical themed" recording. I'm a KC fan AND a Buffett fan.
As a matter of fact...I was listening to JB about 1/2 the way to work..and KC the other 1/2....and thought Kenny needs to do a "beachy" album. Now, I read this....what a coincidence?
"When I pay my bills, gonna leave these Tennessee hills...(take myself), to the sea." Jimmy Buffett
The way I look at it is: That this thing will just be a fad... After 4 billions albums are made Buffett style, people will get sick of it and we'll have Jimmy all to ourselves again... ( Ok that just doesn't sound right)...

Or he loves to escape to the islands and writes about it. He is writing for his life. His music is his life. I don't know much about him, but from what I read, he works hard and lives COUNTRY.
He has learned to escape to the islands, just like a lot of us have.
I don't think he is playing a character. He writes and performs what he is.
My opinion of course after reading this...click on Kenny if the link doesn' work.
I also wish Jimmy would get a web site/fan club like Kenny's site.
I guess if you pay $25 you get a lot more videos etc, to watch online.
It would be nice to be able to watch video footage of That One Particular Concert song...like CILCIA that Jimmy is doing now.
It would also be nice to see School Boy Heart video that they show at the concerts now. We who listen, can only imagine how special that video must be.
I know Coleman has asked if we would be willing to pay a fee to join and get better audio and video during concerts. I know I would be willing.
I'll be the first to admit I don't know much about him. Does he write any of his own songs? I guess I see him as more of an entertainer than a musician along the lines of Brittany Spears. Like I said I really don't know much about him though
