Ya know something worse. Your are paying for gas in their tanks that has been there for a while. Think about it. They got the tank filled up 2 weeks ago when the price was lower but now they pay more so they raise the price of the NEW FILL with the old fill still in there. Therefore if they paid $1.50 a gallon 2 weeks ago and they have 10000 gallon tank and have used like 7000 of it then they have 3000 left at $1.50 but raise the price of ALL the gallons in their tank to $2.00 thereby making more per gallon on the original fill..

Hell, the other day I noted 3 price increases in 48 hours at a particular station I pass on my way to/from work.
Yea and the SAME gas has been in their tanks for several days!!!!
THAT part is especially frustrating!!!

entirely our fault. I work for an energy company and I understand that there are numerous factors contributing to high gas prices. I just get frustrated when people want to gripe about the prices but they don't want to be inconvenienced with the hassles of car-pooling or public transportation. Ya know?

Hell this is the first time I've actually pumped gas in Years!!!! I'm usually on public transportation and these gas prices have me freaked out!!! It's been over a year since I pumped gas!!!
OHHH! So this is really YOUR fault! Back on the bus!

Damn you, Connie!!

I ride the bus to work!!!

But it costs me $1.75 each way.

So I'm still paying $16.25 a week for transportation.

And then I drive my car to the gym, grocery store, etc. in the evening.

But I only have to fill my tank once a month!

Some things to consider:
1. There is a higher demand for gas in the U.S. American consumers are using more gas this year than they have in many previous years, even with the high prices.
2. Environmental regulations lower the supply base of gasoline available to consumers. Oil refineries have to switch production at this time of year to boutique gas blends for specific geographical regions. This means that if there is a shortage driving prices up in one region supplies can't be shipped in from another region to meet demand ... wrong blend.
3. We have about one-half the number of oil refineries in the United States that we had 30 years ago. The last time a new refinery opened for business was in 1976.
4. There is an unexpected high demand for petroleum in China. Some think that China may be buying huge supplies to build a strategic reserve.
5. Saudi Arabia has cut production. There is speculation that Saudi Arabia is recognizing that its reserves of crude oil are running out. Saudi production may never again reach previous highs.
6. The gas prices we face right now are not record high prices. In the early 1980s a gallon of gasoline cost about $2.90. That's adjusted for inflation, of course, but so is your income.
Plus, the fact that our economy is recovering means there is an even greater demand for gas as business begins to expand/grow again.

Carpooling and little cars may be fine for city folks, but they sure as hell don't cut it in rural areas.

I think it's in the Texas Constitution that it is a Texan's God given right to drive a truck.

The barrell prices aren't high enough to merit the price at the pump. I saw a report the other day that said the "US oil companies are reporting record breaking profit margins". They are raising prices because they can!

I dont drive my truck on a regular basis - I'm certainly more of a sporty car or motorcycle guy. But the times that I need it, I couldn't do without it.
