Post by the beav69 »

Does anyone know if Dont Stop The Carnival is still playing anywhere? If not has anyone ever seen a video of the musical or movie format for sale? I love the CD and i would love to see it live, but i have never seen it showing anywhere.

Last thing that I heard was that it was not playing anywhere. They cancelled the run that they had in the Bahamas but they also were going to try to do it off Broadway but I don't think that has ever been worked out. I don't believe there is a copy of the show anywhere unless someone taped it while at the show. I really like the CD also and was trying to go see it when it was playing in the Bahamas but never made it.

Love that CD. I had a friend who took his family to see it in the Bahamas. He said it was so much fun. I wish I had caught it.

A few weeks ago I heard a qupte from a guy about the run they had in the Bahamas. When asked if the audience liked the show he replied, "I don't know but those Parrotheads sure like it!"

I am reading the book right now, I found it at a local book sale for a dollar. That Paperman was a lucky fellow!

Don't Stop The Carnival

Post by andrewsjerrypat »

My wife and I had planned a cruise to Nassau just to see the play months
in advance. It closed one month before we arrived in October.
We did get alot of show promo items pretty cheap-bb caps $1.00, koozies, 50 Cents., etc. However, we would have much rather seen the live show and paid $20 for the ball cap and $7 or 8 for the koozie.
If anyone has a video, I would love a copy. I have lots of other rare stuff to trade.

I first read Don't Stop The Carnival when I was in my teens living on St.Croix. I liked it, but when I reread it after the CD came out I realized how good it was. Jimmy's lyrical/musical take on it adds to the flavor.

Here is a heretical thought. If,one year, JB brought DSTC to town instead of his regular concert I would be there and I would be happy.

What do you think?

I saw that show in Boston indoors I thought it was one of the best shows I have ever seen almost as good as an out door show.

I would be happy to go to a summer tour like that also, in fact i might even go twice or three times like i try to do for his regular concerts.

My wife and I were lucky enough to get to see this before it shut down, it was great. We saw it in July and we knew it wouldn't last much longer, it was a small place, but only about 40 people in the theater.

I think they should definelty put it on the road, play 4 or 5 nights in each city like those other "Touring" B-way shows, that way it won't wear out it's welcome.

If I hit 6 numbers in the Lotto tomorrow, I will back it. :D

I also got the chance to see it in atlantis before it shut down. My ex and I went (she is also a big time parrothead). Show was well done and very entertaining but I remember that the the people next to us never even heard of Jimmy but were just looking for something to do.
