If it's pain I want I'll leave my knee brace home the day of the next softball game.

Ummm...regardless of how clean the place looks...the actual artist makes all the difference in how the tat comes out. If you don't like the way it looks now, do some looking around for a good artist to retouch it for you. I don't know how old yours is, but they need to be reworked every so often to remain fresh-looking.

Tattoos are for the pain??? Umm no, not for me..mine are things I happen to like very very (very) much...As for the epidural that is what he said, that he has done many without problems, and you are not injecting things into the skin with an epidural..the drugs are going into your spinal column not into the skin, so maybe that has someething to do with it....as for an addiction, OH YEAH , I am soooooo addicted, I am getting another one in November, I hate to wait so long, but I want the same guy to do it because he has done such great work on my others!!!

My tat was a mistake, to put it simply, and I will probably have it lasered off instead of reworked. I have an itty bitty heart with 2 flowers just inside my hip bone (it's like a half inch high and maybe an inch long). My friend and I were in Panama City a few years ago, and we started joking about it on the drive down. By the time we got there, she had decided she wanted one. We asked a lot of locals and found a shop a lot of people recommended- sort of, we got lost on the way and ended up at some random place instead of the good place. I've said for the longest time that I wanted a sunset with a shark fin in the middle of it on my lower back (I think we started with me wanting one more than she did). They didn't have anything similar, and I didn't really like what I was seeing on their custom stuff. It wasn't bad looking or anything, just not at all my style. So my friend finds the one she wants, and on the same page, I saw mine. And it was so little and cute that I wanted it. About halfway through the outline, I pretty much realized I didn't really want a tattoo (The guy's response was "Well, you already have half of one..."). And it's also small enough that the lines have never looked great. But like the song says, I know it's my own d*m fault.

everyone is entitled to their own opinion. tats are personal to me and something ive been thinking about since i was 14. most of the people i know have gotten tats that represent something about them and thats what mine is(or going to be in a month). i do agree with the fact getting one just to get one is a little off but to each their own.

To quote a guy some of you may be familiar with:
"She said a tatoo is a badge of validation
But the truth of the matter is far more revealing
It’s a permanent reminder of a temporary feeling"
My tats have significance to events or people in my life.....
They are a personal decision and not for everyone!

I see your Harley avatar and it reminded me of my Harley friends who have tatoos for their "buddies who left the road." Those tatoos have a very deep significance to them.
I've always wanted one, but just haven't ever followed through...yet!

Lil Bump, my post was in jest - I'm rather heavily inked. Sorry for the confusion.

LLG, we've had this conversation before, and to each his own. As long as your piece is special to you, that's all that matters. For me they are not entirely about the pain, but without it I would not value the images left behind nearly as much. After well over 100 hours, I consider my backpiece (still in progress) an accomplishment - something I earned, something I suffered and sacrificed for, rather than something I just went out and bought, like a permanent piece of clothing.
