If it's a thunderstorm, perhaps you shouldn't be online?

I know what your talking about. The same storm came through here about 7:30. Wind, hail, lightning, downpour - my 25 minute drive to work took almost an hour.

Thanks! I survived round one! I'm in a clearing at the moment! It was dark as night except the strobe effect of all the lightning! Cool! But scary!

nokidding, in Madison we had the works (like Wade said). I walk to work every day (no parking) and there was NO WAY I was going out in that with only an umbrella. I slept in :)

God, I love a good thunder and lightning storm. I'm absolutely fascinated by them.

I think if I could start over, I'd be a storm chaser.

Wow, I tell you what we had several whoppers today. Blew my screen door on my porch away. Trees are down everywhere in our parks and around Morgantown. Power outages and stuff...and I know we didnt get the worst..another town in WV got a microburst YIKES and there was a tornado confirmed in Meadville, PA.. http://kdka.com/topstories/local_story_142180230.html

But now the floods will come

I think the worst is over...but ya Des, Im ok...thanks for thinking of poor Melli in soggy West Virginia

I do love thunderstorms though

I had an unlucky incident with the storm situation in OH today. There were clear skies so I go out for a run, well about 1.5 miles in, the skies were no longer clear, they were gray. Yeah I got soaked(I was in good condition for a wet t-shirt contest at that point, which is the closest I will ever be), it was only 1.5 miles from home, but there was no quick route. Luckily it did not hail on me. Now we are having lightning storms with scattered thunder up in MI.

I feel for all the midwest and eastern ph dealing with the storms.

JoAnn-I was thinking of you this morning-it was coming down so hard here, i couldn't see out my windows, and my street flooded in 1o minutes, I was up in Libertyville tonight to have dinner with a cousin and the ride home was full of the evening storms.

Just hope it all blows out so that tomorrow's concert comes through on RM.

Nothing like making up for the drought all at once!

The thunder was so loud it sounded like bombs...boom boom booom boom...shaking the house and cracking very near by. Kind of scary...I guess we got most of the lightning too. I didnt stay outside too long to watch, because teh rain was blowing in so hard in a matter of seconds...one minute im reading outside and the next its too dark to read....was spooky.

I hear ya lil bump... Chicago's is expected to continue through the week as well.

We had the tornado sirens go off twice tonight, and my neighbor saw the funnel cloud, but fortunately it didn't amount to anything.

It was humorous because the radio said how when the sirens alarm, the 1st reaction is to look out the window or go outside, when you should take cover. What do I do? Go to the window. What do I see? All the neighbors outside looking up!

My high school's town was all over the Chicago news with all of the flooding, which isn't expected to crest until Tuesday, and there are already roads closed and buildings surrounded by the water. They always show the boaters paddling over the streets / yards in the coverage.

PHIN POWER heading the residents of Gurnee in the path of the Des Plaines River, and the other storm ravaged communities as well.

I don't ever remember a month as crazy as this has been with the storms. I was watching a couple of things I videotaped a week ago and am seeing the same warnings for floods, storms and tornados as I saw tonight. And I really feel for those in gurnee and Des Plaines-this is really rough!

And the forecast for the next week is more of the same.......

That storm really screwed up my travel plans for the Columbus show this weekend. I was supposed to fly out of McArthur Airport on LI at 6:40 Friday morning. My flight was delayed for over an hour so when I got to Cleveland my connecting flight had already left. They got me on another flight, 6 hours later. We boarded, taxied out to the runway and sat there as another thunderstorm blew through. After sitting on the runway for almost 90 minutes we taxied back to the gate as the pilot told us the flight was cancelled. I rented a car and drove from Cleveland to Columbus. If I had made my original connecting flight in the morning I would have gotten there at 10:00AM. I finally made it at 8:15PM. As least the return trip yesterday wasn't as bad, only 45 minutes late getting back to LI.
