I actually thought this was one of the more TAME threads... am i missing something?Jahfin wrote:Some of the posts I've seen here strike me as being a bit on the rude side as well (especially the one threatening physical violence on someone). Maybe someone wants to sit a Buffett show or maybe because of some kind of medical condition they have to. It is being equally respectful to them if they don't want to stand, they don't have to, it's all about common courtesy. Yes, it's a concert but they may have a perfectly good reason for their behavior.
It's a totally different scenario but I attend a lot of acoustic house concerts where the bands play without any amplification at all and it's expected for everyone to be quiet. I wonder how some of the concert nazis I've seen post in here would handle being in that situation.

Maybe they didn't want to ruin your good time during the show. Maybe they were afraid it would cause a scene and ruin things for everyone (which if a fight was nearly started, it sounds like it might've).

Do you mean you would NOT expect to see many people sitting down and being quiet at a Buffett show? Just trying to clarify.mexcooker12 wrote:I wouldnt expect people to be loud and dancing at a small acoustic show like the ones you mentioned just like I would expect to see many people sitting down and being quiet at a Buffett show.

That's why I said that's a different situation altogether. I'm referring to people that take offense to someone sitting at a Buffett show. They have just as much right to sit as someone does to stand. Like I said, there may also be mitigating circumstances as to why they're sitting and not standing which plays into the whole mutual respect for others thing I mentioned. I know one Buffett show I went to, it was funny to watch the crowd reaction because during the slow songs a lot of people sat down and were making out but during the fast songs they were back on their feet dancing.mexcooker12 wrote:JahFin, I think it is implied that at a Buffett concerty most people will standing up dancing. With the exception of Miami 2003 I hadn't sat at a Buffett concert since 1980.
At Miami people barely stood during Margaritaville or fins - including people on the floor.
IMHO part of the fun and happiness of a Buffett show is dancing and singing with EVERYONE

unfortunately, the whole sitting/standing thing is a bit more complicated, because for the most part, 98% of the audience is standing... if someone behind you is sitting, and asks you to sit, and you comply, then you can't see. Then what? You ask the next person, and the next person, and the next person?

At Miami during Margaritaville I was rudely told to sit down with the explanation "I paid good hard earned money for my ticket". I just looked at them and said you know I didn't get mine free....

Isn't this a Buffett show we're talking about here. Are we all on the same webpage??? I cant believe this is even debatable. (did I spell that right?). Smoke it if ya got it. Not only should it be overlooked, it should be expected. And for those worried about it affecting your "keets", well, in my opinion it's not a family event. I know that's going to cause a stir!

I say if you want to sit down stay at home. If you want to light up be courteous and pass it around. If you want to puke do it on your own shoes not mine. If you spill your beer on me I will probably just laugh at you cuz I will already have spilled mine on me. If your wife is kissing on my buddy don't blame me or tell me you are going to whip his ass, tell him or do it. If your girlfriend shows her tits and I take a picture of it don't tell her mother and have her mother ask me for the picture back. If you show your tits, do it proudly and don't regret it. AND ALWAYS REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENS AT BUFFETT STAYS AT BUFFETT.Melli_Fera wrote:unfortunately, the whole sitting/standing thing is a bit more complicated, because for the most part, 98% of the audience is standing... if someone behind you is sitting, and asks you to sit, and you comply, then you can't see. My friends and I almost got thrown out of the Club Trini Show at Berk's 2 years ago for standing during Club Trini Back In Town. I had to bite my tongue not to tell the jerk behind me to wear his Nazi uniform instead of his Hawaiian shirt the next time. But it worked out well, I accidentally grabbed the wrong ticket stub and was escorted to the seat I had for the PM show that afternoon, which was in the middle of a really fun group of fans that were already dancing.

Of course it's going to cause a stir, jackass. In my opinion, I have more of a right to bring my kids to public places and events than you do to smoke illegal drugs in them.winoUknow wrote:Isn't this a Buffett show we're talking about here. I agree that the atmosphere is not keet friendly, but unless the show is labeled 18+ or 21+, it is an all-ages event. And since it is all-ages, it's the venue's job to make sure that it is all-ages friendly... i.e. no illegal stuff, including smoking, public drunkeness, public nudity, etc... but as I stated before, I have no issue with people smoking during a show....or drinking, or nakedness (especially if you're hot).winoUknow wrote:Isn't this a Buffett show we're talking about here. While we are not against the smoking of the herb, we are not in favor of doing it at the venue. You have options, like at your tailgate. Once you are in the venue, you should not do something that might hurt others. I would put that in the same category as breaking some foul wind that might disperse the crowd due to its noxious content and odious bouquet. While I have done that, it didn't do much for those around me. I apologized profusely once they regained conciousness.
We gotta go where it's warm - Punta Margarita.

There's no reason to call people names. Yes you do have the right to take you kids to public places but knowing you I also assume that you go with the full realization of what people do at concerts. My son started going to concerts with me when he was 4. It's all how you, as the parent, handle it. Parents shouldn't expect people at concerts to not do what they do because they took their kids.
