If I fired up a cigar, I bet I would be tossed out and most people would be glad. I don't know why people ignore it because it is pot.
Don't give me the standard line, "Well it should be legal", because as we speak it is not.
OK, you're a stick in the mud.
I do not know you personally, but have you never had a couple of drinks and gotten in the driver's seat? Maybe not, but how about going 40 in a 35 mph zone? Do you lean towards the belief that 8 mph over the speed limit on the highway is ok because the cop you just passed does not stop you? hmmm? These things kill. Now, me sparking up a joint has no ill effect on you in any way. Except that you don't like what I'm doing. A couple pages back someone mentioned flatulence. That is more offensive, but legal.
You sound like my neighbor who called the cops because he didn't like my music. That bears repeating, he called the cops because he didn't like the music I had on in MY backyard ("Another Jimmy Buffett Concert?!?") My crime? Disturbing the peace. This from a guy with 2 kids screaming in his backyard daily. I guess he feels noise only travels north! (btw, I told him he is lucky I am not a metalhead, no offense steelhead)
My point is a reinforcement of an earlier (mis)quote:
Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven.

If the person smoking the joint got thrown out a few minutes after I see you talking to security, you're damn right I would try to have you thrown out. Otherwise, even though I do find cigar smoke very offensive, don't blow it in my face and I won't bother you.
To each his/her own.

At an outdoor venue I probably wouldn't have a big problem unless the breeze was blowing it right at me. Then I'd politely ask them put it out or switch seats.
The original post involves an indoor show. Not only does the air just hang there, it is a fire hazard. That's why they banned smoking in indoor arenas.

Never been there so I didn't know. I would not consider smoking in an indoor venue. I still wouldn't tell security if it happened. If security can't tell from the smoke rising from the crowd where somebody is smoking and act on it themselves, that's their problem.

actually it wasn't a misquote but from a different version of the Bible. Looks like you're quoting from the King James Version

You are correct. I humbly apologize.

no need to apologize. I used to have a friend (key work used) that was convinced that the King James was the true bible. Wouldn't consider passages from the NIV to be the "bible". Finally I told her that the King James wasn't the true bible cause the original manuscripts were written in ancient hebrew and have been subject translation for years. She got mad at me and I haven't heard from her since.

I have found the people who say they are "very religious" are the least tolerant of anyone else's beliefs. (I had to look up my quote on the 'net.)

So is public drunkeness, but that never stops anyone at the shows...So there goes that theory. They'd need a fleet of buses to carry everyone to central booking.

Or even simply open container in most states. No one would get past the parking lot.

Personally I think that for the most part people need to pull that stick out of their butts and learn to be tolerant of just about anything they encounter at a concert or tailgate. If you tolerance level is low then that's probably not the best place for you to go because you won't have a good time running around playing moral monitor (even if it's just in your head)

i'll take it one further and say that people should learn to be tolerant of just about ANYTHING. if you're gonna be happy in a free society you'd better learn that freedom means most likely you're gonna get offended time and again.

I was gonna say anything but then I thought about how I'd feel if while standing in the lawn the guy behind me p*** on me.
