Quick please ... Need recording help!
Quick... need help with total recorder. Im planning on recording tonights show since im going to be at work. I set the time in the scheduler. How does it know what internet address to connect to? or do i have to have it running all day? TIA!
Not sure in the standard version, but in the pro version you have to :
Got to Schedule-New Job set your recording times-on the same page go to connect to website and play internet connection(check it) press tune-capture your transmission to your home page that opens on the net- then go to the help box on that page for adding the player and address to launch when the timer kicks in.
Don't think the basic version has the above, but you can leave the player open to radio marg and still have total recorder start to record at a certain time. Do a test first to make sure you know the order to do things.

That's not always true. Most of my audiences recordings of the Dead and DMB are far superior to the "s***" on RM.Godsowndrunk wrote:if you were to tape a show at the show yourself the sound quality would just s***.....I am guessing it would sound something like hearing the show on the other end of a cell phone....
I only keep a few RM recordings purely as souvenirs. But if you ever go to dtree.org and check out some of the aud recordings of some bands, you'll see how sophisticated the tapers have become.
It helps, though, if the band allows you to record. This lets tapers bring better (and more) equipment.

I've heard some excellent audience tapes myself. I've just always been curious as to why no one seems to tape Buffett shows since there are definitely people out there that like to collect them. I know I'd certainly be more interested in seeking them out if I knew I was going to hear more than a feed from Radio Margaritaville.

At the last DMB show I went to, it was obvious who was recording. They had their microphones mounted on extended poles and were set up in good locations.
I don't think Jimmy allows these setups at his shows. Most of the older, audience taped shows I have are pretty bad. You can hear a lot of drunk people singing along, or worse yet, talking through the songs. Compared to some of those, I am happy for the RM versions.
Who has the Cali show when Ruben gets on stage for El Stumpo el Bando? All you can hear is his friends screaming his name. Pretty funny

The key word there would be "older" since things have changed a lot in recent years when it comes to audience taping. I have lots of taper friends and they don't just start a CD tree or begin trading immediately after burning their CD-Rs. They spend lots of time mixing the CD-Rs to eliminate as much of the audience chatter as possible (which is usually kept at a bare minimum anyway if those standing in the immediate proximity of tapers respect their wishes and don't talk at all), cut down on lengthy silences between the end of the last set and the encore, etc. so that what you end up with is a very professional sounding recording which sound much, much better than anything I've ever heard taped off of Radio Margaritaville.PA PAR8 HED wrote:At the last DMB show I went to, it was obvious who was recording.
