Touring is touring - it all takes its toll.

Perhaps if Jimmy was doing solo acoustic shows it would be easier, but he's responsible for a pretty hefty payroll and a boatload of logistics.

How many of you felt your stomach drop when you read the first post?? I hate it when these rumors/statements get started or focused on --- If I was JB hell -- I'd say somethin like that just to ensure my ticket sales stayed "Sold Out" (thats a smart business sense angle on the subject)... I remember a big rumor back in the 2001 Beach Odyssey tour that that was his last tour -- fortunately ... I've been in on 2 more tours since then and about to get in on another one day after tomorrow (Atlanta baby -- wooohooo) ... So I may have to step up from 2 shows a year to 3 or 4 to ease my anxiety, thats fine!!! My 'keets will be 3 in August as long as I one day still get to take them to a concert at an age where they can remember (say 6 or 7) I'll be happy --- I just want to share that time/experience with them ... If I get that --- I might be able to "let it go" without too much of a tantrum .... Dont know what the hell I'll do with my springs and summers after that .... but I'll learn to deal I guess!!! WE ALL WILL --- JUST MEANS MORE PHLOCKINGS (TO REMINISCE) !!!!!!! 8) Hell I'm only 27 what are you guys worried about --- I've still got A LOT OF YEARS LEFT to do without if he does retire!!! :(

Jimmy seems like the type of guy who would enjoy a summer once to do whatever he wants to and this hasn't been the case for quite some time.
yeah he should wait a few more years and write another thick adventure book, A Pirate Looks at Sixty.

His retirement will certainly come eventually but it's something he hints at every year.

I seem to remember hearing rumors like these every year since Banana Wind. I hope he keeps going for years to come, but when he decides to stop, he will. Just gotta enjoy it while it lasts.
