Listening to some of the older material gets me wondering. How many of the stories in the songs are true? And did they ever pay that mini-mart back??

I'm not sure I'd even want to know the answer to that - especially if they were not true...I think that would detract from them somehow.

Does it really matter if the stories are true or not? The mystery sometimes makes it better!

Did anyone go see that horrible new remake of Walking Tall to see if there were any Buffett references in there?

Yep, they changed the story so much that I had no interest in seeing it either. Now for The Rock's acting abilities... :D

From FAQ on COBO

"ยท Did Jimmy ever pay the mini-mart back?

In the song "Peanut Butter Conspiracy," Jimmy claims that if he ever got rich, he would pay the mini mart back. Well, when asked if he ever did, Buffett replied that he thought about it. He even made it as far as the parking lot, but he could never work up the nerve to actually go in and pay them back. Besides, he adds: "The statute of limitations has run out.""

As the song says (and quoted above) It's a semi true story believe it or not. :pirate:

I saw the new Walking Tall and thought it was pretty good.
Pretty good action scenes but no Buffett references

I borrowed my brother's copy of the original just to brush up on it for and it was terrible.
You could even see the microphone over their heads in some scenes.

I did the same with Billy Jack.
It's funny how you can watch a movie that you loved as a kid and now it's terrible.

The same thing happened to me a few months ago when I saw Billy Jack again. Man, that was a great flick when I was 12.

As you should know Jimy has to keep his skills sharp, so he is still stealing from the mini mart, which is amzaingly staying in business despite this rash fo Jimmy thefts

I haven't seen the new version so I can't say what I would think of it compared to the original but what I found appalling is the indecent liberties they took with the new movie by changing the main character's name, altering the location to the Pacific Northwest and changing it to be about shutting down casinos instead of moonshine stills. All these changes left very little (if anything) in common with the original story of Buford Pusser which is what Walking Tall was about. I'm not even sure how they got away with it but I guess that's just Hollyweird for ya, that's why I passed on it.
