I was lucky enough to get tix for the Atlanta show and it was an excellent show (of course).
The show seemed to go by pretty fast (as noted several times earlier in this thread). I dunno if JB was on something or if I'm just so familiar with his set lists. Probably a little of both. Besides, time flies when you're having fun...
The weather was here, and it was beautiful; definitely a rag top day at about 80 degrees or so. The sun set to a mostly clear evening with a light (and much appreciated) breeze. I got to the amphitheatre at about 7:30p (couldn't do the tailgaiting bit). I have to collect some beach sand and a barbeque to put in the back of my truck, so I can tailgate with the rest of 'em...
That's cool that JB and Alan Jackson got the CMA for Single of the Year
(Yahoo News Link). He and Mac seemed a bit giddy when they came out at the second half. Something a little more exciting than "getting some water" and alerting the media about that, dontcha think, Jimmy?
Amy Lee joined the Smart Women in Short Skirts by wearing, well, a short skirt during the second half. JB and Amy Lee's duet of "Pirate Looks At 40" brings chills to you, especially when you're sharing the feeling with so many other parrotheads in the venue.
The remote controled shark (Bruce?) was pretty cool to watch! No, JB did not control the shark. Two crew members "launched" the shark while one of them controlled the shark's flight. (Hmmm, there's something you'll only see here; a flying shark. Yup, you won't see
that at Disney! The amphitheatre has ceiling fans in the covered area (for whatever good they do). They turned off the fans before letting Bruce fly, so he would not get tangled in the fans. Don't want flying shark bits all over the croud!
JB mentioned that the new CD is "bubbling" around and should be out by July. At least if they are releasing some singles to radio airplay, they won't block the new songs in the upcoming concerts (hopefully).
Did anyone get a decent recording of the show? If so, I would be interested in a copy of it. Bounce me a PM if you got a good stream, even with the stream hijacks over "Coast of Carolina" and "Scarlet Begonias".
Overall, a very good show. Can't wait to do it again!! It kinda sucks that RM is not gonna broadcast the Dallas show this weekend. They are getting real anal about what is aired lately. I thought the whole point of RM's concert streams was to let JB's fans who couldn't get tickets at least hear the shows.
