sirgumby77 wrote:$200 for a cheap bottle of Tequlia. Not worth it if you ask me. I got the same bottle of Tequlia with a bottle of Margaritaville Margarita mix for 7 dollars.
This kind of attitude just p*** me off!
I am not bidding $200.00 because I think the tequila is worth it...or even the autograph for that matter...I already have a couple from him made out to me personally...I am bidding becasue not only does it help a worthy cause...it helps a good PH who is working hard to raise money for something he believes in...I know how hard it is to ask people for donations...I am just doing my part to make the world a better place.

No frickin offense at all----once again someone takes what I say way outta context. Im just sayin thats just a lot for a bottle----if it were a ticket to a concert that may be different.

If you wanna spend that much on the bottle---More power to ya. Ill put my 200 bucks towards a bottle of Utopia by Sam Adams.

OMG! how much clearer do I have to make it...I am donating money to a worthy cause...not to buy a bottle of tequila!!
Thinking like yours...only out for yourself is what is wrong with this country! You go buy your bottle of Utopia...I'd rather spend my extra money to help someone.

GOOD FOR YOU.

Some people can't afford to spend 200 dollars on a charity auction, let alone I cant even afford to buy my bottle of Utopia right now. I freakin ain't dissin you for throwin down $200 If ya can more power to you.

Some of us lower class of people (since thats how you all are projecting some of us as...) DO give to charitys too. I on the other hand, don't look for chairties who take MONEY. I give to Vietnam Vets about 4 times a year----be it some old clothes, an old TV set, or whatever else they are looking for. Id rather not have money change hands--unlike Salvation Army---who takes stuff from you, and then SELLS IT and keeps most of the money.

And I have a question - doesn't "silent auction" mean you don't get to see the other people's bids?
No, silent auction means you walk around the room (in an in person situation) and add your bid under the previous bid...live auction is when there is an auctioneer.

To Rick: I don't think anybody actually buys charity auction items becasue of their value...it is a nice way to donate to charity and get a little something in return.

yeah!! I am high bidder right now!! :D 8)

It's a donation to charity, not an investment. Most donations don't get you any return - this one you'll get a cool personalized bottle of Margaritaville Tequila to share in the Show and Tell thread.
POINT TAKEN LADIES! I wasn't thinking in pure donation specatacle. I just generally think on a return investement. AND I should have realized that a donation for a good cause is a "return investment" and as a reward you get a cool parrothead item. Thanks for straightening me out on it :)
