No, there is no harmonica player... but who needs a harmonica when you have Amy Lee?

I concur... and to top it off I loved their Pirate Looks at 40 rendition.

I agree Amy Lee does a great job, but when I first got into Buffett twelve years ago, I remember how great Fingers Taylor made those songs sound. I love the horns in Buffett's music, but the Coral Reefer sound is still lacking Finger's style. I know Fingers will probably never return, but by saying "No, there is no harmonica player... but who needs a harmonica when you have Amy Lee?" is just an insult to the Buffett style that we all first discovered. As much as I love the new albums, the ones prior to Far Side of the World will always be my favorite, just for the fact that Fingers was still an active member of the band.

I always miss Fingers' harp when I listen to The Night I Painted the Sky,
among others. I'm just glad we have the recordings, but I support the
direction Jimmy's sound has taken, too. Some criticize it for being "too
commercial", but just how can that be when it's just in the last few months
that he's been heard with anything new on the radio? I think Jimmy's sound
is often based on what he heard and felt growing up. As part of that
generation, I appreciate it all! Thanks, Bubba! and you too, Greg. :)

I guess we shall see if JB has a harp player on his new cd. I agree I love all Buffett music BUT it has lost somthing not having a harp player. I met Fingers down in Gulf Shores Al. He is a great guy. If Fingers isn't coming back they need to fill that void with someone else.

Who's the Harmonica Player in the Band?

Amy Lee is a first class to the Coral Reefer Bank and is a very attractive young lady from Decatur, GA (bet she knows Miss. Deborah McColl). Between the horns & Doyle Grisham, the harmonica player is "downsized". But..... us hard core Coral Reefer followers do miss Fingers Taylor. He and Mike Utley were in the roots of the beginning. Oh, I'm forgetting Al Vacado, Kitty Litter and the always omniprescent Marvin Gardens. Pirate Looks at 40 & SOSOAS just don't sound the same without the harmonica.

Alot of fans think "Hell, Jimmy, just get another harmonica player". But I suppose out of respect to Fingers (& maybe the "old" fans) and maybe in hope they will get back together, he hasn't replaced Fingers. As I've recently learned, when you leave a company or split a working relationship, it feels kind of funny once you split. Afterall, with the exeption of a year or so in the early '80s, those guys were together for a long time.

"All things must pass". But you cannot re-write history. JB's music is all good, no doubt. However, all the old "Bubba" classics "smacked" of Mr. Gregory Taylor, he helped give those tunes their unique personality. Long live "Fingers". That's not mean't to take away from the current line-up, which also has it's own unique characteristics. Like I said it's all good, but somehow "Fingers" was a big part of getting this whole phenomenon off the ground and to the fun filled heights it is today. As always, G.M., Jr.

I, too, miss the sound of Fingers. However, at the Alpine concert in 2000 (I think) we had a very pleasant surprise. Truly one of the best harp players in trhe business joined Jimmy on stage early in the show, then hung in with the band for the whole concert. Clint Black! If you've never heard Clint Black play harp, you haven't lived.

I think Amy Lee is an awesome sax player, but I gotta say there is nothing like a harpoon man. We miss you Fingers!

I love listening to the added sound provided by Fingers ..... but living in Michigan I don't have to miss Fingers too much. I have listened to Fingers many times playing with Living Soul in West Michigan. :D :D :D :D :D

I liken the members of Buffett's band to the ingredients in a jamblaya...

Sure... you can leave out the andouille sausage and it still tastes like jamblaya. But I prefer my jamblaya with sausage...

Just like I prefer my Coral Reefers with "Fingers"...
