So, in other words, another cover band from Moline, Des Moines, Norfolk, Albany etc. etc. comes here to tell me what life is like in the islands?

Let me mark my calendar. Why would you spend all that time and money to come here to the keys in order to see a band you can catch in Chicago? I've never understood that. Or maybe I'm just tired of cheesy pale white characters with fake Jamaican accents.

10. Chicago is latitudally challenged
9. Chicago doesn't have all of Key West's "hidden treasures"
8. Chicago doesn't have an ocean
7. Chicago doesn't have palm trees
6. Chicago doesn't have Sloppy Joes
5. Chicago doesn't have Captain Tony's
4. Chicago doesn't have Duval Street
3. Chicago doesn't have Margaritaville
2. Chicago doesn't have Mallory Square, or sunsets so spectacular

And the #1 reason why I would go to the Keys to see a band I can catch in Chicago?

1. Who needs to justify any trip to Key West?

I see your point, chalks. However, just because a band is from the Chicago area, doesn't make them bad. I don't think Johnny and The Beach Bum Band are going there to tell you or your neighbors what life is like in the islands... they're just going to have a good time! I think they're thrilled by the opportunity, and would like to share it with anyone who cares to join them.

I would think all of the bands who play Margaritaville have to earn their stripes in some way, and the respect of Jimmy Buffett. In addition to playing the plaza stages at the Buffett shows the past few years at Alpine, Tinley Park, and most recently the Target Center in Minneapolis, they have also been chosen to back up Jimmy for the Cheeseburger in Paradise openings in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Nebraska.

Bottom line is, if you're looking for something to do in Key West in early August in addition to the Key West Food & Wine Festival or Lobster Fest, stop by Margaritaville and tell them hello!

Ya, you're prolly right......

Maybe I'm just getting old and grumpy!!!

I guess what I mean is if I had a nickel for every band that comes here overtly riding on Jimmy's coat tail covering his songs, mentioning little quips of Jimmy's in their songs and such....

I would buy a much bigger boat.
Trust me, each week it's a different band from somewhere else cashing in on his songs playing for tourists. This happens all up and down the keys on a daily basis. It's all good in the end though, everyone's happy when they leave which is important. Hell, I make my living on tourists - shuffling them out to the islands, giving them a water landing and an experience they will never forget I hope.

Bring all your money and leave your daughter!

same here.... if we could just figure out a way for the snowbirds to stay home and just mail us their money, AZ would be a great place to be in the winter....

They're playing the plaza stage before the Saturday show, and CIP the Friday in-between. We should tell them to play the Holiday Inn lot Saturday morning ~ or at least stop over for a drink or 2!

By the way, the band should be spotted on the Hogs Breath web cam soon!
