Album Poll #1: Down To Earth

Post by Parrot Monkey »

I thought it be a good idea to get a poll going for each album to determine what everyone's favorite song is from each of Jimmy's releases. I've seen this done on a Beatles forum that I "lurk" on and thought the same concept would have success on the BN forums. Each poll will last a week before closing and creating a new one for the next album.

So first up is Jimmy's debut release, 1970's Down to Earth.

The bonus track on the 1998 Varsee issue (Richard Frost) is not included as it was not on the original release.

"Turnabout" has always resonated with me. One of those things that you really can't explain in a small amount of space.

Turnabout it is. Seems autobiographical and real. Wish he would pull this one of the the old treasure chest some show soon.

If you've never heard it, Tompall Glaser does a great cover of this tune on one of his albums.

I think I have to vote for I Can't Be Your Hero Today. Because no one else did, and after listening on the way home today, it just fits.

What other Jimmy song does he cover...I just can't think??

It's probably something easy like Tin Cup Chalice...

That's the one and thanks for mentioning it because either I never played that song at the radio station I worked at the time (when I discovered Tompall's cover of "The Christian") or else I just totally forgot about it.
